ALT The image says cloud cover can make or break your plans to view the solar eclipse. It has a list of points in the lower left that say any amount of cloud cover will impact the viewability of the solar eclipse especially for photos. The type of clouds will have some influence on your chances of viewing. It shows a link to the web page weather.gov/fwd/eclipse2024 which has more information. The image on the right shows a picture of cirrus clouds which are high clouds that can diminish the viewing experience. A veil of high clouds is often thin and transparent which can allow many aspects of the eclipse to be visible. 2 images of low clouds are in the lower right. Stratus and cumulus clouds are common in our region during the spring months. Stratus clouds break up into cumulus clouds by afternoon on many days. This may allow for some viewability although the conditions would be less than ideal.
