Updated Cochrane review: abdominal drainage after pancreatic surgery.
Whether to drain, and which drain: evidence very uncertain.
When to remove: early removal after pancreaticoduodenectomy likely reduces intra-abdominal infection (moderate certainty).

No evidence of clinical improvement. Drainage probably increases 30-day mortality after open appendectomy (moderate-certainty), but the finding rests on 8 deaths.

35 trials, 4,329 patients: penetrating vs non-penetrating mesh fixation in keyhole groin hernia repair showed little to no difference in chronic pain or recurrence. Evidence is uncertain.

Comparative analysis of robotic, laparoscopic, and open ileal pouch–anal anastomosis outcomes: retrospective cohort study

This study compared robotic, laparoscopic, and open ileal pouch–anal anastomosis (IPAA). Although overall pouch failure rates were similar across the three approaches, robotic IPAA had lower conversion rates to open surgery and fewer 30-day readmissions than laparoscopic IPAA. Open surgery was associated with a lower incidence of thromboembolic events. The surgical approach did not significantly affect long-term pouch failure.
