Without digging it up on line, why do you imagine the Navy likes shotguns for shipboard security and boarding operations?
Live fire training is critical to keeping the ship safe out at sea and in port. George Washington is deployed to the @US5thFleet area of operation in support of the @CENTCOM mission.

I think Miller is right here. The fundamental divide of Right and Left is between people who want to live their lives as they see best and those who want to make you live your life the way they want you to live it.
.@StephenM: “The leftist is fundamentally motivated by envy, by hatred, by jealousy. The leftist looks at what is beautiful and what is good and what is natural and is filled with envy and hatred. The leftist looks at a perfect family with the perfect life and a perfect job and perfect kids, that goes to church every Sunday, and is filled with a feeling of inadequacy and jealousy — and they covet and they turn those emotions ultimately into a desire to subjugate, to oppress, and to inflict pain and suffering. It's not a coincidence that when you look at these violent Antifa demonstrations and you see any photograph of those who are assembled — to be blunt, not one of the people that is demonstrating looks like a normal person. Not one looks normal. They’re all deformed in some way in their appearance, in their dress, in their mannerisms... Their outer appearance becomes a manifestation of their inner hatred.”

Ahh the Midterm Elections. Assuring Government of the Crazies, by the Crazies, for the Crazies shall not perish from the Earth.
Seems stable… this is who America just handed power to btw.

Rumor is they found pictures of the Thunderbirds on his phone.
Marine Corps Major Scott Laux, the Blue Angels’ No. 6 opposing solo pilot, has been removed from the team “for failing to uphold the standards expected of members of the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron,” the Chief of Naval Air Training confirmed to the Pensacola News Journal on November 6th. The Navy gave no date for the removal and did not say what led to it. This weekend’s NAS Pensacola Homecoming Air Show is the team’s final performance of the 2026 season and celebrates the base’s 200th anniversary. The statement says Laux will not take part in the team’s remaining performance, and the team flew five jets instead of the usual six during today's performance. His photo and biography also appear to have been removed from the Blue Angels’ website listing officers. Laux, a 2012 Naval Academy graduate, joined the team in 2024 and served as its narrator last season before flying the No. 6 solo this season.

Trump after the Mid-terms, "Let's see. What kind of message should I send Democrats right now? That I'm sorry and we'll be friends and I'll do things their way from now on? Or, do I send this? Yeah, it's definitely going to be this."

The People of Texas elected the prior governor for his full term of office. He should remind Hinojosa she holds no public office, wields no power under the state constitution and just should busy herself picking out the drapes and furniture for her office until she does.
Texas Gov.-elect Gina Hinojosa is asking state officials to pause land negotiations with Elon Musk's SpaceX. She wants officials to hold off on taking any action involving the proposed deal until she takes office in January. The land in question includes Boca Chica State Park, near SpaceX's Starbase facility in South Texas.

Who wants to bet this guy is under a court order forbidding him access to the internet or come within 1000 feet of an elementary school?

And within hours Dems have gone from elation at regaining power to fear of what Democrats will now do with it.
Democrats, don't fuck this up. Focus on the economy & ending wars Don't go back to bringing men into women's bathrooms and DEI racism Let Americans be able to take care of their families based on meritocracy & hard work

The Dem form of cope in the morning will be that because Donalds did not win by 20pts, Democrats actually won.
🚨 FLORIDA: Byron Donalds has WON the governor's race, per DDHQ. He was down SIX points early tonight and came all the way back. Donalds raised $176 MILLION and outspent David Jolly seven to one. DeSantis is term limited, and the machine he built just kept rolling. The blue wave hit Florida and died in the surf. GOOD!

Why? Why would they want it? It's like taking someone's 1976 Ford Pinto.
At this point, would anybody object if El Salvador just annexes Haiti?

This is very good and worth the read.
Long post worth the read. I have a close friend who flies private jets. He flew Lear 60 for over 15 years and now flies a Gulfstream. This is a copy and paste of his response to me asking him if I thought Ice was the issue. “We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.” “Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.” “I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck. So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window. This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.” “I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from. These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it. These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times. This is not a beginner airplane. The Gulfstream would never do this. It has HUGE margins of error and won't stall like that. But then again... it's got HUGE wings. It's a pussy cat. The Gulfstream is like driving a 4 wheeler. The Lear 60 is like riding a uni cycle.”

If you picked the Navy you might be spared even having to fight them on the "mainland" at all.
Hey @grok, If the US was forced to rely solely on one military branch to defend her mainland, which one would it be? Purely hypothetical of course. Humor me.

Plenty of carriers came and went during long career of Enterprise. Many made great names for themselves. But there's just something about the "Big E" that made her seem like the Queen of the fleet, you know? I'm sad to see her like this but will celebrate her rebirth as a Ford.

This is all very measured, informed and intelligent. Unfortunately, this is also X where a Rando account who lives several miles from an airport near Paducah KY has a theory about a missile from Mar-A Lago shooting it down instead.
Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls. That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching. I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee. Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

Very hard to listen to this. So if you are sensitive, mute it and just read thd transcript. Co-pilot(working the radio) was female. She comes a bit unglued.
*Listener discretion advised, ATC audio from the accident. A Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida earlier today. The pilot reported moderate turbulence along with icing conditions. The aircraft departed Austin, Texas heading towards the Bahamas. The pilot later reported descending at 20,000 feet per minute. Audio via @liveatc and tracking via @ADSBex

Since the UK seems well on its way to becoming a Muslim country anyway, this problem will probably take care of itself.
This Islamophobia Awareness Month, we must shine a light on the abhorrent hatred and discrimination Muslims continue to face. In the last year alone, religious hate crimes targeting Muslims rose by 15% in England and Wales. This is utterly unacceptable. London will always stand against hatred, prejudice and discrimination.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
UK security agencies still assess Islamist extremism as the largest terrorism threat. MI5's Islamist-related caseload remains roughly 75% of its counter-terrorism work, according to recent threat assessments. isdglobal.org/digital-dispat…
