The argument for Josh Downs is it solves one major issue going forward: Beating man coverage.
With Tyquan coming back in 2027 you have a really nice pairing with him and Downs (who you would hope they re-sign).
Means you can focus on drafting a perimeter ball winner in draft.
If Josh Downs doesn't cost much, sure.
I'm wary of anything over a 4th for him and it feels like a bandage over the gushing crack in hull that is the Chiefs WR room.
Guess it couldn't hurt so... whatever, sure. This offense is still capped vertically even with Downs though.

This is tough, because it's definitely a happy feet snap in that he takes off without needing to in terms of protection (by a long shot).
But I can also see him seeing the coverage right after the snap and saying "nope, never gonna happen" and deciding to try and create.

worthy rarely looks like the fastest guy on the field despite the 40 record

Think the Worthy criticism on *this* play isn’t about the ball (that was inside and short because the QB was hit mid-throw) & more so the… poor release, lack of attacking any leverage, running to space vs creating space, and a player 60lbs heavier being attached to his rib cage
'27 1st, Rams '27 3rd, and a '28 2nd for Garrett Wilson, who says no?
99% of the time probably the Jets...but...unless?

Think the Side by Side shows a better look at the difference in tempo on the outbreaker from last week to last night from Kelce.
Story of the game is the 3rd down discrepancy...
After Kelce's illegal shift took the K9 Conversion away, Mahomes and Travis cant hook up on a similar route they hit last week.
Given what last week looked like (included at the end for comparison) I think 15 expects 87 to come out of this break quicker and throws it towards the sideline accordingly.
To clarify my #95 thoughts:
* He is still pretty good.
* He could still be injured.
* He is obviously a few steps below his peak on less snaps played.
* His contract is negative EV.
There is no reason to expect these to get better so there is a decision to be made.
The cap part shouldn’t be that hard tbh. 1/3rd of the way through the year the base salary is the only part the trading team pays for and right now it’d be about $2m in cap space to roster.
The other parts, sure.
I guess I should have specified when I tweeted this…the Seattle defensive scheme correctly applied pressure where they should have because of the Chiefs personnel and executed.
It was just a compliment to the Seahawks scheme and Macdonald lol.
I would advise against this.
They don't get the cap relief to use in the 2027 offseason if they post June 1st.
Butker is an easy just straight up cut. $2.8m in dead cap for $4.45m in cap space is fine.
Jones is a bigger question but I'd just eat the dead cap, personally.
The #Chiefs can save over $34 million in cap space by post June 1 releasing Harrison Butker and Chris Jones this off-season.
This would incur $11.15M dead cap hit that could be spread out over a 2 year span.
this team is entirely too predictable
#Chiefs WR routes last night, the second game without Rashee Rice (hamstring). On 36 Mahomes dropbacks:
1. Xavier Worthy 33*
2. Jalen Royals 24
3. Andrew Armstrong 20
4. Cyrus Allen 10
5. Justin Watson 2
*Xavier Worthy has played 37 regular season games, and never topped 83 receiving yards.
