It’s surprising to me how many kids do not have a consistent dribble/shooting routine daily and weekly In this generation. There’s never been more access to gym spaces, basketballs, goals, then there is right now. And we wonder why the game is in a bad place. THE BASICS!!!!!!!

1. Relaxed standards slowly become national norm.
2. Scores drop. Gvmt points @ schools.
3. Admin points at teachers. Says teachers better have high test scores, but don’t hold kids accountable.
4. Good teachers leave.
5. Those students raise next generation.

I tell my kids all the time, the worst mistake I made as a player was blaming a coach for losing confidence! It’s between you and the reflection in the mirror to do the work! Your work should be so consistent that no one person can ever make you doubt yourself as a player/person!

Dear young athletes- keep this photo saved to your phone and show the next person who says you have to focus on one sport in HS.
The amount of kids I’ve heard say “I can’t risk getting hurt” or “my coach won’t let me” drives me crazy.
You get one shot to be a HS athlete.

I asked Maye last week his advice to young athletes: “Play as many sports as you can. I can’t tell you how much baseball and basketball has helped me in playing quarterback.”
Funny… He settled on QB (unlike his brothers) because he was the smallest of the three. (He’s 6’4’’!)

Spring Hill (5A🏈4-1) gets a big win over Ottawa tonight, 36-7. HC Fred Bouchard with a great gameplan tonight for the Broncos and big night offensively from Sophomore Maysen Dodson with 2 TDs and lot of rushing yards. Also a great defensive night from Brooks Bayer with multiple tackles for loss tonight. Brett Cleland of SIK caught up with them after the win. #sportsinkansas
