The Reno Police Department recently announced the passing of retired K9 Niko, who passed away on October 23.
Niko was responsible for locating thousands of pounds of illegal narcotics and contraband, helping make his community safer. Niko was known for his love of meeting new people and his eagerness to give extra kisses in exchange for a good belly rub.

I’m asking for prayers today.
I got the syllabus for my new course that starts on Thursday. This course requires 40 practicum hours, which will be taking a toll the wallet. I know this will definitely be worth it in the long run, and I know God and Connor’s future will get me through this.
I have two more courses until I begin my student teaching and then I graduate in May. I even plan to ask if I can carry Connor across the stage since he’s played a major part in this journey. (I call this OUR graduation) I am also hoping to hear from the advisors from GCU’s doctoral studies program.

A couple reminders for this year’s Halloween:
1. Check the local sex offender registry. Avoid those houses and neighborhoods.
2. Teach your kids manners. Tell them to say “Thank you” and to only take 1 or 2 pieces of candy unless the homeowner says otherwise.
3. If you see a child with a blue pumpkin basket, it usually means they’re on the autism spectrum or have other types of special needs. Be patient and kind with them. They may be nonverbal or have poor motor skills.
4. If you see teenagers trick or treating, don’t turn them away. Just let them enjoy their childhood and give them the candy. Be happy they still want to do that rather than go to a party with alcohol and God knows what else.
Halloween is for EVERYONE, not just kids.
