ALT The Consular Division of the Foreign Ministry celebrated the Sinhala/Tamil New Year under the aegis of Mr. Wishwanath Aponsu, Director General/Consular on Monday, 19th of April. The celebration commenced with the lighting of the oil lamp and the distribution of goods and consumables to the minor staff working in the division. Parcels containing Avurudu sweets were also gifted by the Director General on behalf of the Sinhala and Hindu staff to officers of the Consular Division from the Islamic faith as a mark of unity and harmony amongst the multi ethnic groups. In conclusion, DG/Consular extended his gratitude to the staff members for their invaluable support and service to the public during the covid-19 pandemic as well as during the opening of consular regional offices in Kandy and Trincomalee. Thereafter, all staff members enjoyed the Avurudu food table.
