🇮🇱 Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's Jewish Power party is poised to win eight or more seats running on its own in Tuesday's election, up from the six it won in 2022 on a joint far-right list. Among Israelis aged 18 to 22, it would take nearly 9% of the vote, according to a poll reported by Ynet, the equivalent of about 15 seats.
Up to a third of its supporters will be voting for the first time, a survey at Hebrew University found.
Ben-Gvir has pushed through a law making hanging the default sentence for Palestinians convicted in military courts of deadly attacks on Israelis, starved and tortured Palestinian prisoners, and vowed to "conquer Gaza, because it's all ours."
"I used to think he was a bit crazy, but then I actually looked at what he was saying, and it all made sense," Gavriel Marmon, an 18-year-old first-time voter from Beit Shemesh, told Reuters.

Now, the thing was, Iran didn't have nuclear weapons because I had put a deal in place that everybody acknowledged kept them from getting nukes.
And I didn't have to fire a missile to do it. I just had to engage in diplomacy.

Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, says going after a senior US official would be the least efficient move Tehran could make, even though anyone plotting one only needs a single shot:
“They essentially only have to get lucky once.”
If round three starts, the first sign may be the lights going out across the Gulf.

According to The Economist:
"It appears to have come from a small circle around the president, Mr Musk and Steve Witkoff, the special envoy to Russia. Reports suggest Mr Musk wanted to punish Ukraine for striking Russian refineries. One official says he contacted the White House only after imposing the restrictions."
If true, this suggests Elon Musk imposed the terminal-speed restrictions unilaterally, before notifying the White House.
Congress must urgently investigate whether Musk acted without government authorization. It is unacceptable for a private citizen to exercise unilateral control over a vital military capability. Starshield is a defense system, and decisions to restrict its operational capabilities should rest with the appropriate government authorities, not the CEO of a private contractor.
This should alarm everyone.

🇦🇪 Oil from the supertankers struck by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz has reached the UAE, with beaches across Umm Al Quwain now covered in oil.
The spill has forced UAE to close all beaches and affected coastal areas in Umm Al Quwain. Tourists and local residents have been told to stay away from the affected beaches.
Al Hamriyah Beach in Sharjah has been closed as well, with the oil spill now affecting more than one part of the UAE coastline.
