Those who know know. The Archie Shepp-Bill Dixon Quartet. From Savoy around same time as they released Marzette's album. Original copy form 1965, cover shows its age but, the music is quite intact!

Amazing sold out show in Austin last night - thanks to all who came!

Happy birthday to the great Pharoah Sanders! I have to say, likely, the most intense music I’ve ever experienced live are the early Pharoah performances with the first bands he put together after Trane’s passing. In the spring of ‘68, I would go hear him at the East Village Inn…

Playing Monks in Austin, Texas tonight with a stellar band including @chasebairdmusic see you soon! tickets.monksjazz.com/shows/…

…good memories and also leaves a few mysteries. I haven’t recorded many of my gigs as, I never really had much desire to listen to them afterward. But this from so long ago would be interesting to hear. Not only of myself but, Stan and Bill, as well!

Ahmad’s in Cambridge used to have some great bands! Billy Peirce, Stan Strickland! I wish, i remembered who Pierre Eugene was, any help? This was in the early ‘70s, I cannot remember who was playing in my band. Finding old posters is kind of cool, reminds me...

The show is Oct 13 at Monks and I’ll also be hanging out at End of an Ear, a great Austin record store on Oct 11 at 4pm. Hope to see you there.

Austin Oct 13! The last time I played in Austin was 1978 as a member of Carla Bley’s band. I’m excited to perform my music there for the first time with an amazing band of Austin musicians, including my former student, Chase Baird. tickets.monksjazz.com/shows/…
