Shinkin banks from Tokai west, all the way to Kyushu. A system failure on a Friday afternoon.
ATMs: OFF
Teller counters at 3,430 branches: OFF
Internet banking: OFF
Transfers to other banks: OFF
Fully unavailable. The money is still in the accounts. Customers can't get it out.

Not a war. Not a bank run. No sign of a hack.
The suspected cause: broken communications equipment at the West Japan Center of ONE shared system that 236 shinkin banks run on.
One center failed. 128 of those 236 banks froze with it.
As of Friday evening in Japan, still NO time given for a fix.
3 days ago it was Paraguay. 3 million customers locked out of Ueno Bank, $380 million of the state pension fund stuck inside.
Now it's 128 banks in Japan.
The financial lockdown is getting BIGGER.

🚨 A BANK COLLAPSE HAS JUST BROUGHT DOWN A COUNTRY'S PRESIDENT.
And Everything happening in Paraguay right now is a reminder of exactly why Bitcoin is needed.
Paraguay is facing a massive financial crisis after Ueno Bank, used by nearly 60% of the country's adults, collapsed.
Around 3 MILLION customers have been left unable to access their money.
And the damage is spreading.
• $2.8 BILLION in bank deposits affected.
• Around $850 MILLION in public funds tied to the bank, including $380 MILLION from the state pension and health system.
• 13 mutual funds across five investment firms have temporarily frozen withdrawals.
• Trading in Ueno's bonds has been suspended.
• Eight bank executives are under investigation for suspected financial wrongdoing.
But the political fallout is even bigger.
Paraguay's central bank chief resigned, thousands of angry citizens took to the streets, and now President Santiago Peña has RESIGNED amid growing pressure over his ties to the bank's owners.
One bank failure has now turned into a national financial and political crisis.
Imagine waking up tomorrow and finding out you can't withdraw your own savings because your bank collapsed.
This is exactly why Bitcoin matters.
Banks can fail, accounts can be frozen, and governments can limit withdrawals.
But with Bitcoin in self-custody, nobody can freeze your coins simply because a bank went bankrupt.
