Today, the real story at PPSD is that the School Board will be voting to initiate another contract for professional development services. I encourage my colleagues to vote yes. We need to be at our best to ensure we can effectively support our students.

The Black Panther Party was founded on this day in 1966 in Oakland. Its community programs, like free breakfast for children and health clinics, met real needs that too many institutions ignored.

Economic development too often means handing corporations public money and hoping the public benefits somewhere down the line. @NYCMayor’s quantum partnership with NYU is a different model. As @MazzucatoM said: “One way to socialize both the risks and the rewards is through equity stakes.”
Breaking News: Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is making a $30 million investment to build a quantum research lab at New York University. In exchange, the city will receive 15% of any proceeds from intellectual property developed in that lab. nyti.ms/4jUe7GD

I'm deeply saddened by the stabbing of a young woman and her 2-year-old child this afternoon on Broad Street. My thoughts are with them and their loved ones as they receive care at the hospital. I'm grateful to the first responders who acted quickly, and I'm relieved that a suspect is in custody. My thoughts will remain with the victims and their families and I'm wishing them both a full recovery.

You actually have to go back to Paolino in 1984 to find a primary winner with more votes than Morales got this year. Morales was born in 1998.
Interesting note on Providence mayor: David Morales got more votes in the Democratic primary than any Democrat this century, including Cicilline in 2002 and 2006, Taveras in 2010, Elorza in 2014 and 2018, and Smiley in 2022 and 2026.

Providence Councilman Miguel Sanchez, 28, secured enough votes to become the city’s next council president in the 2027-2031 term. The Democratic nominees for the council caucused last week and voted for other leadership roles, too. MORE: wpri.com/news/elections/migu… @wpri12

Our city has a bright future with @DavidMoralesPVD and @MSanchezPVD leading us!
Providence Councilman Miguel Sanchez says he's locked in the votes to be Council President in January. He still has to hold those votes for a few months, but would that make him the first president from Ward 6?

Chief saving officers coming to prov city hall very soon.
Mayor @ZohranKMamdani on cutting down wasteful budget spending: There was waste. There's also this addiction to consulting. When we looked at the city budget, we realized we had to save money through efficiency. So we set up something called 'Chief Savings Officers' in every department. We saved $94M just by renegotiating contracts to a better rate. We saved $24M by letting go of unused office space. I believe that government has to be the most excellent, efficient version of itself to be worthy of people's trust.
