ALT Credit: Chevrolet A modern Z06X would likely combine that engine with the same basic front-motor architecture. That hardware comes with a trade-off. The battery and front motor add mass, which is a bigger concern on the Z06 than on other Corvettes given its track focus. Chevrolet would have to weigh the traction benefits of all-wheel drive against the extra weight on a model built around lap times. Tony Roma confirmed the company could build one but did not signal any plans to do so. He pointed to complexity as the main hurdle, since Bowling Green Assembly already builds a wide range of configurations and a Z06X would add another powertrain combination. He also noted that the team usually responds to these requests with a question of its own: “Would you buy one if we did?” For now, there is no confirmed Z06X program and no information on timing, output, or pricing, which leaves the name where it has been since 2010.
