So when Trump fires all non-partisan career professionals in government, replaces them with radical loyalists within every nook and cranny of the US government, and adds radical judges everywhere. And every one of you that voted for him finally wake up from your fucked up fantasy just like the folks that woke up after 4 years of the last shit show, only to realize it’s much much worse, and much more permanent, this time. When the cancer you caused has infected every bit of the American system and it can’t be unwound for a lifetime. What then? Do you beg this country for forgiveness for choosing fascism because you were conned into believing your eggs are too expensive because of Joe Biden? You just put Steve Bannon in charge of American policy. You just put Michael Flynn in charge of our military. You just put Alex Jones in charge of media and propaganda. You just put Stephen Miller in charge of immigration policy. You just put batshit crazy RFK Jr. in charge of health policy. You just killed free public education and privatized schools, which you will have to pay for. You just sealed the deal on a national abortion ban, because you’re demented if you think it’s not coming. You just radicalized the Supreme Court for a generation. You just made women less safe and less free. You just made this country an oligarchy with the billionaires quite literally in charge now. You just put in office the one person that believes a president is a king, with the fucking Supreme Court ruling to prove it in his back pocket! You just ushered in Fascism. Because your cereal costs more. Congratulations.

Genuine question. Why should I care about landlords, private schools and multi millionaires? They are starting to be gentlely squeezed to start paying their way, and they are having the biggest tantrums I've seen. They should try universal credit if they genuinely feel hard.

I had never eaten in a restaurant, gone on holiday, or realised food brands like Walkers, Cadbury's and McVities were not actually "posh" until I was 21. Dinner was the same thing every night. Every toy I had came from boot sales. There were 5 of us in a tiny 2 bed maisonette in a very rough area. Even at a young age, I learned to wear a hoodie up and how to walk so as not to get attacked on my way home, as we could not afford a car. I felt the panic about money from my mum even at a very young age and as a kid was taught to be quiet if the door knocked, in case it was debt collectors. I knew not to ask for money, or treats, or anything. Was never encouraged to go to uni, or to work, as that level of generational poverty carries a "this is it" attitude. Myself and all my family suffered depression, because it is a depressing atmosphere with no hope or aspiration. I am the first person in my family to be working and jump out of poverty, and that only occurred by sapping off my new partner's middle-class privilege. I had to learn to use a knife and fork and try "normal" foods to impress what I then thought was his incredibly rich family. There's no house or money to inherit, just expenses when family passes away. A week before my dad passed away due to a delayed operation from COVID backlogs, I had to lend him money for bills. A week later, I had to pay for his funeral costs. My twin brother died from deep vein thrombosis before he hit 30, as a direct result of the poverty situation he was stuck in and accustomed to. A week later, I had to start paying the bedroom tax for my mum now that his room was not occupied. Unless I get rich, my mum and remaining brother will live in poverty for the rest of their lives, never knowing anything different. The same goes for all of my close mates who grew up in the same town and same situations as I did, and I recognise my privilege in being out of it nowadays, because it is so vastly worse now than it was 10 years ago, and my hometown far more impoverished, somehow. My career is purely driven, every single day, by the never-ending fear that I will lose it all and have to return back home, fall back into depression, and suffer the fate of my twin. This worry continues to fuel every waking day of my life. It controls my life. You never stop being working class or "underclass". But all that pales in comparison with what @RishiSunak went through without access to Sky TV. I'm proud to have a leader I can relate to. He truly is in it with the rest of us.❤️

Suella Braverman is the worst of politicians. An individual who deliberately stokes the fires of racial and religious tensions for self-serving purposes, with no regard to the greater societal damage she is doing. The very definition of a scorched earth policy. Shameful.

This is one of the most powerful historical photos I've ever seen. They are Jewish prisoners being liberated from a death train in 1945. They were en route to concentration camps. They would have likely all been killed, many of them almost immediately. Allied soldiers intercepted it and set them all free. This train appears to be mostly women and children. Although 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust, many millions more were also offed because of the insatiable hatred of one man and his supporters. By the time this photo was taken, the passengers knew exactly what this train meant. You are staring at “the moment” these people realized they wouldn’t be dying in a group execution. I can’t even fathom the relief they felt. Relief isn’t even a strong enough word.

interesting theory. my 1:1 scale Minecraft Preston Bus Station says otherwise
Mental-health crisis from pandemic was minimal, study suggests bbc.in/3ZA0EHd
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The headline's statement that impact was "minimal" may be misleading, as the article states that the cited study does not focus on those most likely to be affected. bbc.com/news/health-64…
