Vitalik nails it, but does not go far enough with the solution. Epic Cash has the perfect privacy solution today - not storing attributable data like addresses or balances on the blockchain - nothing to decipher, not today not ever!
🚨 VITALIK: “We really need to treat data as toxic waste by default.” At Devcon Mumbai, he calls for open-source tech and zero-knowledge proofs to protect privacy and reduce reliance on trust.

We are not inviting Putin to Kyiv. They came to us without an invitation in 2022. But that’s not why there’s no point in inviting Putin to Kyiv. It’s because he won’t come. The same goes for inviting me to Moscow. What Russia is doing is destructive. It’s simply spitting in the face of the whole world that wants this war to end. That’s why no one will support going to Moscow. As for a phone call, Russia will use it as an excuse to avoid any further meetings. And we understand this game. It leads nowhere. It would just be a very formal, dry phone conversation where I would once again have to listen to a history lecture from the leader of the Russian Federation, rather than hear about real steps to actually end the war. If we want to end the war, we have to meet and take the first step: a ceasefire. From answers to journalists’ questions in Berlin.

There should not have to be a "need" to trust... Trustless, Permissionless, Unconfiscatable, Untraceable, and Unconfiscatable - thats the way!
"We need to be able to trust our operating systems. We need to be able to trust our hardware. We need to be able to trust the things that are most relevant to our health. We need to be able to trust our sources of information and connection to other people. We need to be able to trust our communication tools. We need to be able to trust our AI. What is the answer? We need to figure out together." - @VitalikButerin 📍 Devcon 8, Opening Ceremony

Trump eases sanctions on Russia and begins buying Russian diesel. Days later, Musk restricts Starlink service in Ukraine, disrupting its military operations and its ability to defend itself.   And now we’re learning directly from Putin that Russia has been in contact with Musk.   How on earth did we get to this point? How is it possible that Musk can disrupt an American ally’s military operations whenever he chooses, maintain a clear line to the Kremlin, and face zero accountability to the American people or the U.S. government?   I want to know what Musk has been discussing with Russian officials, whether those conversations had anything to do with the Starlink disruptions, and what the Trump Administration knew.
Yesterday, Putin revealed that Russian authorities are "in close touch" with Elon Musk about the technology Ukraine needs to defend itself. Our new report @TheAtlantic investigates how @elonmusk went from supporting Ukraine to coordinating with Moscow. theatlantic.com/national-sec…

🚨BREAKING: Brazil’s largest crypto exchange Mercado Bitcoin confirms a security breach TODAY. Hypernative flagged over $40 MILLION in suspicious transfers across roughly 10 blockchains. The exchange suspended deposits and withdrawals while investigating. It says customer data and assets are safe but has not clarified whether the transfers represent stolen funds.

Zelenskyy: “Are we attacking Russian diesel fuel? Yes. But does this have an impact on prices in the U.S. or globally? No, it does not. Russia’s current share of global exports is 2.2%. So, the actual impact is virtually zero. We know that the war in the Middle East has a far greater influence on energy prices worldwide.”

🚨NEW: Over $106 MILLION reportedly drained from an EU entity’s accounts across multiple crypto exchanges, according to ZachXBT. The suspected attacker withdrew USDC and USDT, then swapped funds into ETH, routed them through instant exchanges, converted to Monero and bridged across chains. The entity has not publicly confirmed the suspected theft.

We have intel that Russia is preparing a new massive attack on our country – primarily targeting energy and logistics. The assumption is basically that tomorrow the world will be watching the American midterms, and what is happening here in Ukraine, along with our difficulties with air defense and Patriot missiles, will be overlooked. We need signals from the world to Russia that will make them feel that terror is no good, that it will bring no gains, and that as long as this war continues, their oil will burn, and they will not be able to make money doing business with the world. We must not play games with Russia’s oil or gas revenues. We must put pressure on Russia in such a way that it has no alternative but to end this war. America can do this.

The surveillance state is using massive computational power to destroy your privacy. You're being psyoped into leaving these tools on the table. Pick them up & defend your right to privacy. We will not win if we don't fight with all tools available. xitter.gq/jayjayHales/status/211…

💯 If they're using powerful compute to build the surveillance state, every privacy-loving person needs to be using powerful compute to build privacy tools. We absolutely will not win without equally as powerful tooling.

There's a major state sponsored misinformation and smear campaign towards GrapheneOS in the Netherlands and Germany. The misinformation campaign includes unsubstantiated security claims not holding up to scrutiny to scare people away from it. They're also heavily misrepresenting who uses it overall. These smear campaigns conflate GrapheneOS with forks and modifications of it sold by shady companies. Those usually include a device management app to remotely manage the devices of their customers as if they're employees. These are largely not GrapheneOS devices or have preinstalled malware apps. A common tactic being used in these smear campaigns is to make unsubstantiated and outright false claims about the capabilities of forensic data extraction tools. They misrepresent how they get into devices. They want to scare people into using far less secure devices which are easier to exploit. France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands are becoming increasingly authoritarian surveillance states with an ongoing crackdown against privacy. It's happening throughout the whole EU and it's likely both secure devices and end-to-end encryption without backdoors are going to end up outlawed. There are a bunch of companies based in the EU selling phones with drastically worse privacy and security than an iPhone including Jolla, Volla, Murena and iodé. These products are effectively backdoored by not providing standard privacy and security patches/protections while misleading users. France and other EU countries are actively cracking down on legitimate privacy and security projects while supporting unsafe products within their control. These products make it far easier to remotely exploit devices and also to bypass encryption to extract data. They're phony privacy products. Each of the companies we've listed have participated in the misinformation and smear campaigns against GrapheneOS. Jolla spent years working closely with Putin's regime. Volla, Murena and iodé are building an EU Play Integrity API. None provides the crucial standard privacy patches/protections. Murena is directly assisting with state anti-privacy campaigns smearing highly private and secure devices as mainly benefiting criminals. They've repeatedly falsely claimed GrapheneOS is mainly used by criminals. Here are 2 of many examples: xitter.gq/GrapheneOS/status/2040… clubic.com/actualite-604786-… GrapheneOS, end-to-end encrypted messaging apps, Monero and other projects are being targeted with state and corporate propaganda and anti-privacy laws. Meanwhile, the same governments heavily fund and support phony privacy projects clearly downgrading privacy and security compared to an iPhone. GrapheneOS is only an initial target for these state actors and their sycophants in corporate news organizations. Apple heavily works on protecting users against exploits too. It would be much harder to convince the public that an iPhone is for criminals so they're starting with open source.
Gaël Duval is the founder and president of the /e/ foundation along with the CEO of Murena. Duval and his organizations have consistently taken a stance against protecting users from exploits. In this video, he once again claims protecting against exploits is for only useful pedophiles and spies. Translation to English: > There's the attack surface, on that front we're not security specialists here, so I couldn't answer you precisely, but from the discussions I've had, it seems that everything we do reduces attack surface. However, we don't have a "hardened security" approach, we aren't developing a phone for pedo(censored) so they can evade justice. So there aren't difficult things to check if the memory is corrupted, really hardened security stuff that could clearly be useful for executives, in the secret service, or whatever. That's not our goal, our goal is to start from an observation: today our personal data is constantly being plundered and that wouldn't be legal in real life with the mail or the telephone, we want to change that. So we are making you a product that changes that by default for anyone.

Web3 is over for me. Crypto feels broken. Nothing feels safe anymore, and honestly, I think it’s only going to get worse. I’m done trying to make money in Web3. No more mints. No games. No flipping coins or NFTs. None of it. But here’s what hasn’t changed. The one thing that mattered from the very beginning, and the ONLY thing that still matters today, is COMMUNITY. As QwestLab continues to find its footing, my attention and energy are going elsewhere. If you feel like I’ve been absent from Saints and Chumpz, you’re right. I have been. I’m not going to pretend otherwise. But being absent doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten where I came from or the people who built alongside me. My only interest in Web3 moving forward is finding ways to create real opportunities for the Saints and Chumpz communities. I’ve always believed community is one of the most powerful marketing engines you can build. That hasn’t changed. It was part of the vision then, it is now, and it will be wherever I go next. The difference is I’m no longer interested in creating things just to sell them to you. I want to build things outside of Web3 that create opportunities for all of us. And when those opportunities come, I know exactly who I want at the table. There will ALWAYS be a piece of the pie for Saints and Chumpz. You just have to stick around until it’s time to eat. @chumpzonape @saintsoflaNFT
