🚨LATEST: @tether is backing everyday stablecoin payments across Latin America.
The company has led a pre-seed round in Bolivian fintech Peso, which connects USDT to local banking systems and payment services across four Latin American markets.
Peso has also integrated USDT payments into Yango in Bolivia, allowing users to pay for food orders within the app. Tether’s investment will support further development of Peso’s merchant network and banking infrastructure.
UPDATE: 🇺🇸 The US is moving closer to a formal regulatory framework for stablecoins.
The OCC has finalized its GENIUS Act rules, setting requirements for reserve backing, redemptions, audits, and risk management for stablecoin issuers under its jurisdiction.
The rules also establish how certain state-qualified and foreign issuers will be supervised under the federal framework. The requirements are scheduled to take effect on January 18, 2027.
🚨 BREAKING: The Internet Is Facing a Wave of Cybersecurity Alerts.
Two critical PHP vulnerabilities dubbed “PHP2Shell,” rated 9.2/10, have triggered global warnings.
The flaws could compromise vulnerable websites. Patches arrived already, but exploitation was reportedly already underway.
Cloudflare’s CEO reported hacking attempts jumping from thousands to millions within hours. CrowdStrike warned attacks may leave little trace, while Cloudflare says attackers are adapting to bypass its protections.
Unsupported PHP versions may require upgrades, and patching alone won’t remove existing backdoors.
Other cybersecurity incidents include:
• Japan: Onamae suspended all Desktop Cloud plans after malware was found on customer servers.
• India: eMudhra had eight weak website-certificate keys, including one set to “4.”
• Banking: State Bank of India confirmed 3,897 customer records appeared on the dark web.
• America: AI agents were reportedly used to attack 400+ banks.
• Capcom: Confirmed a breach exposing 11.7 million email addresses.
• GitLab: Disclosed a 10/10-severity flaw affecting versions dating back to 2014.
• LiteLLM and Railway: LiteLLM removed a malware-infected release; Railway reported possible exposure of customer secrets.
Governments, banks and major platforms have already taken their websites offline.
The full scale of the damage may take months to establish.
🚨 BREAKING: JPMorgan, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Morgan Stanley reportedly detected unauthorized AI agents accessing customer accounts.
🚨LATEST: @Pumpfun is replacing Relay with its own cross-chain trading infrastructure.
The new Pump Bridge claims to deliver buys twice as fast, cut transaction errors by 92%, and improve trade execution without adding bridging fees.
Pumpfun says 90% of Pump Bridge trades complete before a typical Relay trade does. The platform reports a 0.9% buy error rate, compared with more than 11% on Relay.
⚡️NEW: @BlackRock is expanding its active ETF lineup into robotics.
Its new RBTX fund targets companies across the robotics and automation value chain, with a focus on how AI is transforming manufacturing and logistics.
RBTX gives investors exposure to businesses developing, supplying, and deploying robotics technology as AI moves further into industrial operations.
🚨LATEST: Institutional investors are getting a more direct route to digital dollars.
@Anchorage and @Securitize are partnering to let eligible clients mint and redeem the bank’s stablecoins directly, reducing reliance on third-party liquidity providers.
The partnership connects stablecoin issuance with Securitize’s tokenization platform, giving institutions a more direct way to manage the cash side of digital-asset transactions.
NEW: 🇲🇾 Malaysia’s central bank has launched SSDS+, a platform for issuing and holding tokenized bonds and sukuk.
Connected to RENTAS+, it enables round-the-clock settlement of bond payments in central bank money.
🇺🇸 NEW: Crypto exchanges, including @blockchain and @BinanceUS, are racing to offer prediction markets to US customers.
With token trading under pressure, platforms are looking to diversify revenue and expand beyond conventional crypto markets.

TOKEN2049 Singapore 🇸🇬 Recap.
This year’s only @TOKEN2049 brought the global crypto industry together in Singapore for a week of meetings, side events and conversations across the ecosystem.
From the main stage at TOKEN2049 to the @solana Capital Summit, @okx Now and events across the city, it was another opportunity to connect with founders, exchanges, investors, traders and institutions.
A few takeaways from the week:
1. Stablecoins are becoming a bigger part of the financial system.
The conversation is moving beyond trading pairs and exchange liquidity. Stablecoins are increasingly relevant to payments, cross-border transactions and financial infrastructure, with growing interest in how they can connect crypto with traditional finance.
2. Competition among trading platforms is intensifying.
Exchanges are competing for traders through better products, liquidity, execution and new trading opportunities. Prediction markets and the expansion of on-chain trading are adding new dimensions to that competition. In an increasingly crowded market, distribution and user retention matter as much as ever.
3. Institutional interest continues to grow.
Tokenization, digital asset infrastructure and the integration of crypto into traditional financial markets were important themes throughout the week. Institutions are looking beyond speculation toward practical applications, market infrastructure and opportunities to participate in the digital asset economy.
4. Distribution remains a competitive advantage.
With so many projects competing for attention, building a good product is only part of the equation. Reaching the right audience, establishing trust and converting attention into adoption remain major challenges for crypto businesses.
For @Cryptic_Web3, it was another opportunity to strengthen relationships across the ecosystem, meet new teams and stay close to where the market is heading.
We partnered with events throughout the week, including @ZoomexOfficial, HSC Singapore, @LBankLabs VIP and @PrincipiaLabs_. I also joined ZOOMEX’s panel, “Where’s the Edge? Trading Crypto and Beyond,” discussing trading, conviction and risk management.
TOKEN2049 is always a reminder of how quickly this industry evolves. The narratives change, new competitors emerge and capital moves, but fundamentals, execution and distribution remain critical to building lasting businesses.
Until next time, Singapore. 🇸🇬

@NEARProtocol has launched NEAR Business, bringing payroll, vendor payments, cross-chain swaps, and capital allocation into one confidential multisig dashboard.
NEAR Business combines private treasury management with audit access, allowing crypto teams to manage funds across 35+ chains without exposing sensitive transactions publicly.
🚨UPDATE: Banks can now connect private blockchains without exposing sensitive transaction data publicly.
@0xPolygon's CDK Besu combines permissioned networks with zero-knowledge proofs and Agglayer connectivity, giving institutions access to cross-chain asset transfers while retaining control over validators and network participants.
CDK Besu is designed to connect institutional privacy with public blockchain liquidity. Its Ethereum-settled proofs are intended to prevent withdrawals exceeding deposited assets.
LATEST: 🇰🇷 South Korea’s won is moving further into tokenized finance.
@injective and @BDACSKorea plan to make KRW1 the network’s exclusive won-denominated settlement asset for tokenized real-world assets, giving institutions another option beyond dollar-backed stablecoins.
KRW1’s institutional rollout remains subject to regulatory approval as South Korea works toward finalizing its Digital Asset Basic Act by the end of 2026.
🔥HUGE: @jpmorgan expects Bitcoin to outperform major traditional assets over the next 10–15 years.
In its 2027 long-term market outlook, the bank forecasts a 10% compound annual return for Bitcoin, exceeding its projections for U.S. stocks, real estate investment trusts, and gold.
Bitcoin’s projected returns come with significantly higher volatility, estimated at 55% annually.
Bitwise CIO @Matt_Hougan also pointed to the forecast as a sign of Bitcoin’s long-term return potential.
