Gm to perseverance! Almost 20 years of rejection. Then two award shortlists in two weeks! For nearly two decades, I've had a 100% rejection rate from the traditional art world. Awards, scholarships, bursaries, exhibitions… rejected by them all. Never even shortlisted. But something seems to be changing. Last November, a Scottish Parliament motion recognised my work and my #EXPOS3D exhibition. Then in May, I delivered a keynote at the Edinburgh Futures Institute (Creative Tech Scotland), where I joked about my rather ‘impressive’ rejection record. And now, after almost 20 years, TWO major award shortlists in the space of a fortnight! 🏆 Faith Art Prize 2026: My 50 kg golden apple sculpture 'Eve's Agreement' has been selected for exhibition at Westminster Cathedral in London, with a £25,000 prize up for grabs. 🏆 Creative Edinburgh Awards 2026 (Innovation Award): Shortlisted for nearly two decades of pushing boundaries through painting, technology and experimentation. I have no idea if I'll win either one, so my perfect record of never winning an award may yet survive! 😂 But to every artist who's ever received that dreaded "unfortunately..." email: keep creating, keep taking risks and keep going. Often the only difference between failure and success is refusing to give up. Persevere! ✊

Gm anniversary! 🎉 8 years ago today, 21 Oct 2018, I opened #CryptoDisruption: The Art of Blockchain at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh. I'd started working on the paintings late 2017, my first foray into creating crypto-themed art. The exhibition featured 12 oil paintings, each incorporating AR videos exploring my early understanding of the emerging crypto space. What an incredible journey it's been! I've experienced the fingernail-biting highs and lows, from the early days with crypto trading (badly!) and pre NFT art platforms, to everything that's happened since. And through it all, I still find this space as inspiring as I did back then. And even with all the drama and controversy, I've come to accept that it's all part of the journey. It is what it is, and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Although, having been 'cancelled' 2 or 3 times in the early days, I've definitely got a lot more grey hair to show for it! 😅 I've always considered myself a painter first and foremost but Web3 has opened my mind to possibilities I could never have imagined. It's given me opportunities to explore, experiment, collaborate and push my creative practice in directions I never would have dreamed! Perhaps most importantly, it's introduced me to an incredible community of artists, collectors, technologists, builders and visionaries, all exploring what the next frontier of art, tech and immersive experiences might look like. So thanks to all of you for riding along with me on this rollercoaster! 🙏 After all this time, I'm still learning and just as excited about what's possible. Here's to the next eight years. Can't wait to see where this journey takes us all! 🚀🎨

Apple® iSin (2025) Stained glass 90cm x 140cm Collection: #EXPOS3D Adam and Eve stand in a lush Garden of Eden, surrounded by colourful flowers and intricate foliage, framed by ornate arches and crowned with golden halos. Eve offers Adam the forbidden apple, while a surveillance drone watches overhead and an oversized bee flies beneath it. The familiar biblical story of temptation and forbidden knowledge takes on a modern meaning, as technology intrudes into paradise. The title, Apple® iSin, connects the forbidden fruit with technology, where even knowledge is packaged as a product. Graffitied onto the outer edges of both panels is LOGOS, the all-seeing AI entity at the heart of the #EXPOS3D exhibition. Where God once watched over Adam and Eve, a surveillance drone now assumes that role, reflecting technology's growing power to observe and influence our lives.

All jokes aside, one of the greatest things about the Web3 space has been the incredible people Violet and I have met along the way. Through all the ups and downs, the bulls and the bears, the chaos, one thing has remained constant: the laughter, adventures and the memories we make together. @hardart__ is one of those special people. We've known each other since 2020, finally met in person at Bitcoin Conference Miami '22, and became instant friends. Since then, we've had the pleasure of catching up in different countries around the world, sharing great experiences, incredible food and wine and making new memories along the way. Markets come and go, fortunes rise and fall, but the friendships we've built are what really matter. And Milt, you're definitely one of our favourites!

They say one of the great secrets to success in life is to surround yourself with intelligent, ambitious, driven and inspiring people. People who challenge you, elevate your thinking and push you to become the very best version of yourself. Of course, every rule has its exceptions... We're really happy to have our good friend @hardart__ visiting us in Scotland for a few days. Some friendships are simply too valuable to let a complete lack of the aforementioned qualities get in the way. 😂🫂❤️

Gm ✝️🕊 'Holy Spirit Now Streaming' is based on the imagery of Confirmation, where the descending dove represents the presence of the Holy Spirit. I transformed the dove into pixels and placed a Wi-Fi symbol beneath it, bringing the traditional depiction into a world where connection has come to mean something very different. The graffiti across the frame is a human mark pushing back against digital control. Above it, a replica CCTV camera watches, reflecting how constant observation has become part of everyday life, often through the phones in our pockets and the systems we willingly depend upon. Set against an image of divine presence, it introduces a very different kind of watching. The painting leaves their relationship open to the viewer. One of a series of seven paintings reimagining the Christian Sacraments in the contemporary world from my #EXPOS3D exhibition (2025).

Eve’s Agreement (2025) Fibreglass and gold paint Collection: #EXPOS3D 100 x 80 x 80 cm Eve’s Agreement returns to the moment of choice in Genesis, where the promise of knowledge comes with consequences not yet understood. I chose the apple for its connection to knowledge and temptation; gold is both sacred and seductive. Inscribed “CONSENT IS JUST A ☑,” the sculpture sets that first choice beside the way we accept complex online agreements we rarely read in full. The question is no longer only Eve’s. What does consent mean when saying yes is easier than knowing what we have given away?

The more I work with AI, the more I appreciate paint. Strange paradox. AI has become essential to my creative process but nothing digital replaces the physical presence of a painting. A surface built up by hand has its own kind of life. #EthBoy oil & wax
