昨天發現我誤解了 Chromia 的某些部份
難怪在某些概念上卡住
例如這問題：Chromia 到底是Layer 0、1、2？
查了很多資料之後
重新理解它
-------------------------------------
Chromia 的核心邏輯是關係資料庫
PostgreSQL (RDBMS)
幾個重點：
-資料直接是結構化的
-鏈上不存歷史狀態
-每次交易都直接更新最新狀態
-鏈上存歷史紀錄
-區塊鏈達成共識後直接轉成 SQL 更新狀態
跟傳統區塊鏈哈希樹狀結構狀態的差異在於
速度快很多
非常多
Chromia 在大量資料處理的應用有極大優勢
不儲存歷史狀態
隨時都有結構化的最新狀態
Chromia 沒有 DA 需求
Chromia 本身不是執行層
App 有自己的鏈
有自己的共識與驗證節點群
在 Appchain 上執行
至於結算
我本來以為 Chromia 是結算層
但其實也不是
Appchain 本身就能進行結算
然後再以不同驗證節點群進行分層結算
提供分層安全性
Appchain 有自己的共識、驗證節點以及資料庫
也就是說
Appchain 就是執行 + 共識 + 結算 + 有自己 DA
每條 Appchain 都算是傳統定義的 Layer 1
具體來說
Chromia 提供的是架構以及驗證節點群
沒有自己的單體區塊鏈
而是這整個 appchain 以及分群驗證節點網路
這部分或許就是 Chromia 的核心底層：後鏈 (#Postchain)
看到這應該會發現
相較於常見 Layer 1
@Chromia 其實跟 @Polkadot 更像
更接近 Layer 0
差異在於
Polkadot 還是有自己的單體區塊鏈
以及波卡提供全局安全性
而 Chromia 提供的是分層安全性

Chromia 以資料庫方式處理狀態
和傳統區塊鏈的哈希樹不一樣
這又造成一個關鍵差異
關於不可竄改性
哈希方式的區塊鏈狀態是不可竄改的
一旦被改變就會讓哈希對不上而無法驗證
資料庫邏輯無法提供這種不可竄改保證
改善方式是透過共識機制和外部補強
共識簡單說就是它依然是去中心化的
必須有一定數量以上節點共同作惡才能竄改資料
外部補強則是 Chromia 可定期將當下狀態進行哈希處理後上傳到其他 Layer 1 (例如以太坊) 進行錨定
總結來說
Chromia 和傳統區塊鏈完全不一樣
無論是架構上 (不同於常見 Layer 0 1 2，甚至也不同於模組化區塊鏈常見分層)
或邏輯上 (以資料庫邏輯而非哈希)
概念上它更像是去中心化的雲端資料庫
一種介於 web 2 和 web 3 之間的技術融合

I'm a purist. When I advocated for on-chain over onchain, it was to refer to the concept of putting data or logic 100% on a blockchain, making it entirely trustless and permanent.
I sensed that "onchain" was being used much more loosely, co-opting the credibility of this term without any care for the meaning, or the engineering purity.
Now, this motion has achieved its endgame. "Onchain" is just used to mean "it's crypto" even if it's a post in a centralized DB or an L2 that's running on a centralized AWS box.
This is fine with me; good, even. Words evolve. Onchain is great marketing for the crypto industry in general and obviously has more mass appeal because it's engineered to be a meme and is marketed by all the biggest companies in the space. But to think it's "won" over on-chain just misunderstands what I'm even talking about.
I use both of these words, I just think they mean different things. And I still think the meaning of on-chain is extremely important, even if few care or understand.
