Every 2nd October the memories come fooding back. A shout out to all the people who stood in the rain like I did for a few hours of absolute magic. Just finished my annual rewatch of this extraordinary series. Even after 40 years and repeated viewings, it still holds up. A first rate script, a fabulous cast, superb performances anchored by the astounding Bob Peck and that evocative and plangent score from Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen.

Absolutely miraculous! A legendary show from my favourite singer of all time. She is on scorching form here. Along with the later Trem Azul shows, this is Elis at her glorious and inimitable best. Brazilian friends of mine attended this show in Rio and recall it as the greatest concert they ever saw.
