EAST BATON ROUGE IS LEADING LOUISIANA IN EARLY VOTING. 37,142 people have voted early, but 252,092 registered voters have yet to cast a ballot. Here’s where we stand: Black voters: 17,255 White voters: 18,310 Democrats: 19,546 Republicans: 10,619 The gap between Black and white early voters is just 1,055 votes. Democrats currently lead Republicans by 8,927 votes. With Jamie Davis running for the U.S. Senate and Ryan Thompson running for district attorney, voters have an opportunity to weigh in on representation at both the state and parish levels. East Baton Rouge has never elected a Black district attorney, sheriff, clerk of court, coroner, or tax assessor. That history deserves attention as voters consider the future of our community. Early voting continues through October 27. Voting is a group project, and the results show up in our communities. Share if you care.

“James Baldwin said that the children are always ours, every single one of them. He was right,” Mayor Brandon Johnson said. “He also said that he was beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing that may be incapable of morality.” chicagotribune.com/2026/10/2…

Access to healthy, affordable food should never depend on your income or your zip code. Our Market City strategy will make fresh and nutritious food more accessible for communities across @Chicago while strengthening neighborhood farmer's markets and creating more opportunities for local entrepreneurs to grow and succeed. @ugrowcollective @FoodDepository @PPS_Placemaking

MAGA Republicans are running ads using pictures of me and copying my brand to lie to Maryland voters. Let me be clear: Question 3 is how we fight back on Donald Trump. I will be voting YES on 3.

Yesterday, I joined the Baltimore Chapter of Jack and Jill of America for their teen-led Legislative Summit at Morgan State University. It was all of the things I love: Young people finding what makes their hearts beat a little bit faster and using their voices to help serve others. Their summit brought together students who have already started a club, organized a service project, or pushed their schools to change rules that weren't fair for everyone.

DSA member and prospective “Squad 2.0” congressman Chris Rabb is part of the election observation delegation in Brazil, where he’s filming videos celebrating Lula’s reelection and warning about American political interference. I'd like to see Rabb bring that same social media, man-on-the-ground energy to Philadelphia's biggest problem areas. Go stand in an open-air drug market, talk about the addiction crisis, and explain what he's actually doing to address it. And while we're at it, election observation delegations should be politically neutral, not de facto cheerleaders for one side. Rabb's videos celebrating Lula's victory certainly raise questions about his objectivity as an election observer.

Yesterday we brought the spirit of the beautiful game to life at the Cost of Living Classic, where New Yorkers came together for an afternoon of free soccer and friendly rivalries. From the pitch to the sidelines, the beautiful game reminds us that the joy of community and belonging in an affordable city should be within reach for every New Yorker.
