Detrimental empathy is its finest form.   I watched this with family, and my brother-in-law said he would have 100% transferred her to a female therapist as soon as that joke was paid; it’s a time bomb and career suicidal. And also said he doesn’t like it when family members are in the room with patients while he is working, they can easily get carried away with emotions and pain.

I have a lowkey unhinged theory (prob wrong since I only watched once) but the Backrooms movie is definitely connected to Spider Man: Brand New Day. Think about it, the room with Mary’s Still Life looks just like where the scientists kept Jean in that glass room. There could literally be still lifes of Spidey, Jean, Frank, etc. Also people expecting a straight-up Backrooms horror movie were def disappointed. It felt way more like a psychological thriller that just used the Backrooms as a setting.

Don’t forget about HER when talking about the greatest performances in Game of Thrones. 👑 Lena Headey didn’t just play Cersei Lannister; she made us understand her hatred, fear, ambition, grief, and thirst for power. Even when Cersei said nothing, her expressions spoke volumes. She made us hate her, fear her, and sometimes even sympathize with her. That’s the mark of an extraordinary actress. Lena Headey deserves to be in every conversation about the best performances in Game of Thrones.

Revisit Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. There's a lot more to learn from this movie than magic. When Ron was poisoned, Harry didn't panic. He remembered what he had learned about bezoars and acted fast enough to save his friend's life. That moment says something important about real life: what you learn today might be what saves you tomorrow. Never underestimate the value of paying attention, learning from experience, or taking knowledge seriously. You never know when you'll need it, or who might depend on you knowing what to do. Sometimes, the difference between a crisis and a tragedy is something you learned long before the crisis arrived.
One of the funniest things about the SNL Joke Swap is that the person who knows you best can also be the person who knows exactly how to embarrass you. Colin Jost and Michael Che aren't just telling controversial jokes. They're watching each other deal with words they didn't choose, in front of millions of people, with no chance to prepare for the reaction. That's what makes the format work. The writer gets the satisfaction of setting the trap. The reader has to live through it. In a strange way, it's also a test of trust. You have to believe the other person knows your limits, even while giving them the opportunity to make you deeply uncomfortable. Sometimes the funniest part isn't the joke. It's watching someone you respect realize you've set them up perfectly. youtu.be/r7drK5-sMns?si=Q2Wt…

Some more #Carrie thoughts: Amanda wants to kill Carrie and Emaline, but what if she's completely wrong about them? What if she's so focused on preventing another prom disaster that she fails to see the bigger picture? What if the real threat isn't Carrie and her kind, but people like Amanda who are willing to kill based on what they might do? Either way, I don't think her intentions justify her actions.

The most terrifying thing in the room is sometimes the person nobody else can see. Cecilia Kass spends her life trapped in a relationship with Adrian Griffin, a brilliant scientist whose wealth and intelligence make him almost impossible to escape. One night, she risks everything to flee his isolated home while he sleeps. She believes getting away from him will finally give her freedom. Then Adrian supposedly takes his own life, leaving her a fortune. But Cecilia cannot shake the feeling that he is still watching her. Strange things begin happening. Objects move. Doors open by themselves. Someone seems to be standing just outside her vision. Whenever she tells people what is happening, they see nothing. And slowly, everyone begins questioning her sanity. Then the situation becomes far more sinister. Cecilia discovers that the invisible presence is not simply haunting her. It is deliberately destroying her relationships, manipulating evidence and making her look dangerous. Adrian has found a way to become invisible, and he is using it to turn Cecilia’s entire world against her. The police cannot catch what they cannot see. Her friends cannot understand what they have never witnessed. And every attempt Cecilia makes to expose the truth only makes her appear more unstable. But she knows something they do not. Adrian does not need to be seen to control her. He only needs everyone to believe he is gone. Now Cecilia must stop running from a man who can disappear at will and find a way to prove that the monster she escaped never truly let her go. Because sometimes, escaping an abusive relationship is only the beginning of the fight. The Invisible Man (2020)

Ultron explaining that Edith was identical to Peter Parker in the sense that they have to carry unbearable pain but keep moving forward regardless of the circumstance is genuinely amazing storytelling and gives a clear reason as to why Edith was given to Peter If only she truly remembered who he was :( (I know she made a reference to her previous owner being a Junior, but it doesn’t seem like she knows who the person is just the fact that he was in school)

I'm 58, and I've spent nearly 20 years working overseas to give my family a comfortable life. My wife and I have two children. Our daughter, 23, recently landed a good job and has started paying her own bills. Our son, Daniel, is 26 and still lives with us. Daniel has a business degree, but he has no interest in working. A few years ago, I paid for him to pursue a professional accounting qualification. He failed the exams repeatedly, not because he couldn't understand the material, but because he barely studied. Eventually, I stopped paying for the classes. "Dad, you're putting too much pressure on me," he told me. "Daniel, you're almost 27. I'm not asking you to become rich. I'm asking you to learn how to support yourself." He shrugged. "I'm still young. I'll figure things out." Meanwhile, he woke up around noon, spent hours playing football with his friends, and rode his scooter around town without a helmet. Whenever he received a traffic fine, somehow, I was expected to pay it. I had worked through exhausting years abroad, missing birthdays and family occasions, because I wanted my children to have better opportunities. I never imagined that providing them with a comfortable life would make one of them afraid of responsibility....or perhaps simply unwilling to accept it. Last month, I made a decision. I stopped giving Daniel spending money. If he wanted new clothes, expensive outings, or money for his friends, he would have to find a way to pay for them himself. My wife thought I was being too harsh. I told her we couldn't keep financing a grown man's refusal to grow up. Then, two weeks later, Daniel came home looking unusually worried.

Nobody in my family understood why my grandfather kept one chair permanently empty at the dinner table. He never let anyone sit in it. Not even when we had guests. Whenever someone asked, he’d simply say, “That’s not your chair.” When I was little, I assumed it was an old man’s habit. Then, one Thanksgiving, I moved it. My grandfather immediately stood up. He looked genuinely frightened. “Put it back.” I’d never seen him react like that before. I asked him whose chair it was. He wouldn’t tell me. Years passed. My grandfather got older, and eventually he moved into a nursing home. Before he left the house for the last time, he gave me a key. He told me it opened a drawer in his bedroom. “There’s something in there I’ve been waiting to give you.” I asked what it was. He just smiled. “You’ll understand the chair.” I didn’t think about it again until after he died. Then I remembered the key. I went back to his house. The drawer opened easily. Inside was a stack of letters tied with string. Every letter had the same name on it. My name. But the oldest one was dated twenty-six years before I was born.

My company promoted the coworker I trained, then asked me to explain to him how to do the job I was denied. I had worked there for three years. I was the person everyone called when a client threatened to leave, a project fell behind, or a system stopped working. My manager, Rebecca, always told me the same thing. Rebecca: “Keep this up. When the senior position opens, you'll be my first recommendation.” I believed her. When the position finally opened, I worked weekends preparing a proposal showing how I could improve the entire department. Two weeks later, the announcement came. The promotion went to Kevin. He had been on our team for eight months. I congratulated him publicly. Then I walked into Rebecca's office. Me: “Can you explain why I wasn't considered?” Rebecca: “Kevin has a fresh perspective.” Me: “I've been doing half the responsibilities of that position for over a year.” Rebecca: “You're excellent at execution. Kevin has more leadership potential.” I left without saying another word. But the real betrayal hadn't started yet.

Every morning, I saw an elderly woman walk into the café, buy two coffees, and sit alone by the window. One day, curiosity got the better of me. “Ma’am, why do you always buy two coffees when you’re here alone?” I asked. She smiled sadly. “My husband and I used to come here every morning. He passed away three years ago, but I still order his coffee.” My heart broke a little. The next morning, I arrived early and paid for her two coffees before she came. When she arrived, the cashier handed her the cups and said, “Someone wanted you to know you’re not alone.” The woman looked around, tears filling her eyes. Then she whispered, “Thank you. Today is our wedding anniversary.” Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness reaches someone on the day they need it most.
