Benko: Auburn coach and former Iowa State assistant Alex Golesh told me that he really enjoyed living in Ames. Said he talked with Otzelberger about how great Iowa State fans travel to support the MBB team in tournaments.

Benko: Supporting Jimmy Rogers in the upcoming roster-building window is a priority, and providing them resources to be successful is paramount. He spoke with Rogers yesterday and said that priority will carry to MBB and other sports.

Benko: I wouldn't be here if I thought Iowa State had hit its ceiling as an athletic department. He first mentions fans as a reason for Iowa State's success. Spoke highly of the alignment at Iowa State. And said Cy-Town can be innovative in the future.

Benko: The foundation is strong. The expectation should be high. He ends with "Let's go to work" and a "Go Cyclones."

Benko: My message to Cyclone Nation, I know how much this place means to you. My job is to give you a department that you can be proud of. Said he needs to the fans when things are going well and poorly.

Benko: Winning does matter -- Iowa State will compete for Big 12, NCAA titles. Said that education and getting a degree is an expectation too.

Benko: College sports are changing faster than ever -- paying players, governance, and new costs and new expectations are a part of that. He said Iowa State is going to attack those changes and find an edge. But he said he doesn't have all the answers. He assures people that he will work.
