100%. This reminded me today also of not pulling up the ladder when we've reached the top. Let's help create a world where we always offer a hand up to those who follow.

Who got to see #MagicFarawayTree? What did you think?
This 65 year old woman is beyond excited! The Magic Faraway Tree is my favourite book of all time and I still read it now. It was always my dream to write a script for and perform this on stage. A girl can dream eh. #MagicFarawayTree

Loved @KathyLette's The Revenge Club and @richardosman's Thursday Murder Club, celebrating older folk with suspense-filled stories, great characters and a side order of witty humour. #IAmReading
I would rather see a post where you write/talk about one or two books you read this month that you really loved, why, what made them unique - than see endless posts where people list the 20 books they read this month. Volume is irrelevant if we don’t get a sense of the experience.

Just finishing @Barbaraerskine The Story Spinner, before I start her latest The Valley of the Ravens. I adore her two-timeline spiritual/pagan contemporary/historical stories. A novice dance student I avidly read dance-themed stories by @TheAntonDuBeke and @ShirleyBallas too.

A thoughtful and timely missive which I wholeheartedly endorse, kind Sir. A keen wordsmith, I look foward to future communications and corrective interjections from your grammatical self.
A small public service announcement from the Department of Things That You Should Know… It has not “peeked” your interest. Nor has it “peaked” your interest. …It has piqued your interest. You are not “phased” by something. You are fazed by it. If you’ve had a long day, you are weary. If you suspect someone is an idiot, you are wary. It is “due course”, not “do course”. “Per se”, not “per say”. And while we’re here, it’s “could have”, not “could of”, but that particular battle may already be lost. Thank you for your attention during this brief outbreak of grammatical housekeeping. This has been a @LairdofthManor announcement.🎩💙

The hardest part of self-publishing isn’t making the book -- it’s shouting loud enough for readers to hear it exists!

Both.
Do you think writing is a skill or a talent?

I'm querying agents and publishers with my debut novel. I dream of seeing others reading my story. #am querying #agents #publishers #magicalrealism #romantasy

Listen my lovelies, there's been a lot of criticism of people using AI to write books & I don't think that's the way to win hearts and minds. So let me tell you instead, with the best of intentions, what you're missing out on. Here's the thing - writing books is hard. I don't know anyone who was a brilliant writer the first second they began. It's a journey and a learning curve. There are frustrations, challenges, disappointments and failures along the way. But the point is that the journey is still the good bit. Because at the end of it all you have such a sense of pride and achievement that it can be life changing. You don't need a million pound book deal to feel it. The discipline, hard work, time, dedication, passion and intensity all pay out. It's a feeling like nothing else. So for your own sake, stick with the writing. The actual hard work. And yes, I know it's tough. (Really, really.) But nothing quick and easy gives you a real sense of fulfilment. Want to be a writer? Then the painful truth is that you have to write. Good days, bad days, boring days, days where you rip it up and start again. But my God, the days when you hold a book in your hands and think "I created this. From my brain, my soul, my life experience, my sweat and tears." Those days are golden. And you can have that, but only if you put in the hours. Because otherwise, you'll look at that book forever and the truth (that perhaps only you will know) is "Those aren't my words." Just try.

The first sentence/paragraph is the hook to encourage readers to continue reading our fabulous stories. Thus it needs to WOW, pique interest, motivate others to explore further. #writers #authors
I might be the minority here, but I don't need the first sentence to WOW me. This instant gratification culture is toxic. What happened to easing into a good story?

Writing/Re-writing is easy compared to getting an agent/traditional publisher, social media promotion of self and books etc! (says one currently in the querying trenches for her debut Magical Realism novel!) #writingcommunity
Writing is hard. Rewriting is harder. Who agrees?

Shameless self-promo on International Women's Day! A reminder that we can support each other by liking, commenting, following and re-posting each other's posts on all social media platforms. Thank you for everyone who takes the time to help this Queenage writer. #iwd2026
When life gives us lemons, we’re told to make lemonade. But what if the real question isn’t what you make - but who you make it with? Let’s talk about what happens when women stop fixing themselves in isolation - and start straightening each other’s crooked crowns... #iwd2026
