Today we're sharing a major milestone for BioStack:
We’ve raised $9.5 million from @peakxvpartners, @EmCollective, @DCVC, @AforeVC, @VerdictCap and @ycombinator among several others to build the data foundation for the next generation of healthcare AI.

Two exciting AI launches both from @DCVC portfolio companies:
@RecursiveAI's Flint: 40B MoE (2.5B active), 74.2% SWE-bench. Built in under 4 months with AI automating parts of its own R&D.
@humansand's Ampersand: RL-trained for collaboration. 39% CooperBench vs. 17.3% baseline.
AI that builds better AI.
AI that makes humans work better together.
Two different but important frontiers

Have had several requests to post slides from the recent quantum investor talk I gave @UCLA
I've been investing in quantum for >10 years and while the data wasn't surprising it was still interesting to actually see the numbers ...

A highlight reel proves a robot can do something once, for the camera. A deployment proves it can work safely on a real floor, shift after shift. Only one of those scales a business. Agility CBO Daniel Diez on what actually separates this market: agilityrobotics.com/content/…

Enjoyed my conversation with @suffiyanmalikk. Full episode here.
⚛️ Quantum is coming, and will be huge, but not for the use cases and reasons you think.
💰The best founders raised at 2X higher valuation.
🏦 Companies that raised from Tier 1 funds were 5x more likely to become a success.
💹 New forms of tradable assets will become huge, especially compute and energy derivatives
We discussed these and many more. Give it a listen.
Good reporting from Marina Temkin (@MTemkin) at @TechCrunch.
Proud to have led @typesafeai's Series Seed less than a month ago and to have participated in the $870M @a16z-led A alongside @sequoia --prouder still to see the tremendous response from software developers around the world (TypeSafe's first model, Jev, has already been adopted by 1/3 of the @FortuneMagazine 500).

Great reporting from Natasha Mascarenhas (@nmasc_) and @RebeccaTorrenc5 at Bloomberg (@business).
In less than a month, from the day we led @typesafeai's Series Seed, the company's valuation has risen from ~200M to $7.5B (we were glad to participate in the @a16z-led Series A alongside @sequoia). The company now has nearly $1B to put to work.
Why all the fuss? Because TypeSafe is making reliable, affordable, fast, machine-native AI, which will revolutionize software broadly.
Hats off to an incredible team led by cofounders CEO Diogo Almeida (@CompleteSkeptic) Erik Gafni (@EGafni) and Sasha Sheng (@hackgoofer).
Their first model, Jev, has already been adopted by 1/3 of the @FortuneMagazine 500—but they're just getting started.

Trillions of tokens a day. Almost $1b in new firepower for @typesafeai’s mission.
The execution quality and pace of Diogo Almeida (@CompleteSkeptic) Erik Gafni (@EGafni) Sasha Sheng (@hackgoofer) and their teammates at TypeSafe AI is off the charts.
We’re glad that @DCVC could lead the Seed and now double down in the A with our friends from @a16z (who led the A) and @sequoia.
@martin_casado of a16z is a talented entrepreneur in his own right and a great partner for driven operators changing the world.

Much respect for Fei-Fei and her decades of contributions, but given what @odysseyml just unleashed with #odyssey-3, @AMD should be asking for a refund... 🙃
Kidding aside, what this @DCVC-backed company just delivered is extraordinary, and more so on the relatively modest $ and team size they did it on... Congrats @olivercameron + your team!

My first conversation with @alitamaseb, General Partner at @DCVC and author of Super Founders is now available wherever you get your podcasts. Ali spent years studying billion dollar startups to understand what separates their founders from the rest. We discuss the myths around age, education, cofounders, and industry experience and what the data reveals about building exceptional companies.
What we cover:
- The young founder myth: why age alone doesn’t predict success, and what Ali’s research reveals about billion-dollar founders.
- Why repeat founders have an advantage and the early signs of ambition, resourcefulness, and a drive to build.
- Inside the Super Founders Club: a network of 750 founders who become each other’s customers, cofounders, and investors.
- How successful startups enter crowded markets, differentiate their products, and start with a small niche before expanding.
- The myths around cofounders, technical backgrounds, and industry experience and why trust, customer understanding, and knowing when to pivot matter.

I asked @alitamaseb if patents still matter as a moat:
"Product differentiation is the biggest factor. When you look at Robinhood.
The market existed. There's already large incumbent players for decades..You're coming in with a young team that has had a little bit of experience there, and they just build a very, very delightful product with a very, very different pricing model.
Being different about your business model or being different about your product and being 10X different, that's what it takes to be very successful. It's less about IP. There's very few deep tech companies that rely on IP for their differentiation.
If you come into this thinking, 'My IP is going to protect me,' that's not going to be a successful company necessarily."

DARPA QBI FINALISTS ARE HERE.
This is the Pentagon's final round to decide who can actually build a useful quantum computer by 2033.
Already in (since 2025):
$MSFT: Topological
PsiQuantum: Photonic
Added today:
$IBM: superconducting
$IONQ: trapped ions
Atom Computing: neutral atoms
Diraq: silicon spin
IonQ, Atom and Diraq: up to $300M in funding each going through 2029.
6 finalists so far, 6 different qubit types. DARPA still doesn't know which one wins, so it's diversifying to find out.
$IONQ is the only public pure play quantum stock in the final round so far, still waiting on Quantinuum, QuEra, Xanadu.

@kaggle & @antgoldbloom was an awesome early @DCVC investment (2011!), and I just saw that Diogo @completeskeptic (@typesafeai CEO; DCVC investment circa 2025) won a Kaggle competition back in the day!
#thosewerethedays
I was listening to @CompleteSkeptic on an @a16z podcast talking about the role winning a @kaggle competition played in his journey into AI:
youtu.be/Ut3LOjKNJaE?t=652
One of the things I’m proudest of from building Kaggle is seeing how many people from the community have gone on to shape the current AI wave.
@gdb practiced his newly learned deep-learning skills on Kaggle before co-founding OpenAI.
blog.gregbrockman.com/my-pat…
@NotTomBrown used Kaggle projects while teaching himself machine learning. He later became first author of the GPT-3 paper and co-founded Anthropic.
youtube.com/watch?v=JdT78t1O…
@fchollet introduced Keras to Kaggle competitors early on, then hosted the first ARC-AGI competition on Kaggle. ARC-AGI tests whether AI can learn new rules and solve unfamiliar problems from just a few examples. It has become an influential benchmark for frontier AI reasoning.
arcprize.org/history
And I’m especially proud to see @cclark, who led product and engineering at Kaggle, go on to co-found OpenRouter.
Who else should be on this list?
