From the fairway...
In order for the typical tour pro to hit it inside 6 feet 70% of the time...
They need to be about 12 yards from the hole.

Leo doesn’t get excited about much, but I think it’s safe to say that this invitation made his day.

Hey @inwardhalfgolf - how about some threads for Leo to wear at the World Championships? 😎
Excited today to receive & accept an invitation to play in the @uskidsgolf Teen World Championships in July at @PinehurstResort. This will be my 5th time playing in the Worlds but my 1st time on the famed Pinehurst No. 2. Thanks to Rick Timm (Chatt. Tour) & @JakeReevesGolf!

Tiger's career make-rate from 7'0" to 8'11" is 52%.
The best player golf has ever known missed 48% of his putts from that range.
Why do some amateurs think they should never miss an 8-footer? 🤷

Arguably the most backwards thing I hear related to putting;
“I’m so bad at putting I’m beyond help”
So not true. The worse you are the easier it is to improve
You just need some good info & a bit of quality practice. The only way is ⬆️ if it’s really that bad

Views ranged from most to least important club in the bag to get fitted
Most views seemed based on personal experiences of good or bad fittings
If you do want a putter fitting (I think you should 😃) make sure to seek out a good putter fitter who coaches as well

Today's episode of cheap things that can be golf training aids: these little rubber bumpy stickers: a.co/d/4oAEj4o
400 of them for $10. That should last a while.

Speed control in putting matters a lot, and not just on long putts
My simple “system” for the vast majority of putts;
Up to 15ft = 12-18” past the hole
Outside 15ft = get to 10% of initial distance
(Don’t really care if short, long or wide on longer putts)

The typical 10-handicap averages ~2.6 three-putts per round.
Speed control is key if you want to reduce the number of three-jacks.

PGA Tour pros average one made putt per round from 13'3" or longer.

From 30-feet Tour Pros leave 38% of their putts short of the hole.
Given how big their dispersion is, this percentage short is nearly optimal for scoring.

Change = discomfort. However it passes so no big deal
April tends to be a busy coaching month as season starts. I’m often thinking/saying “I wish you had come to see me in October”
Jan/Feb still better than April. Still time to get ready for 2023

“Hit Balls” “Take cage cuts” and “Putt” are not game plans for practice – Those are weak. Building practice is about being specific. It is like going to the grocery and getting ingredients – You do not go and “get food” – if you do that, you will end up with crap.

Average birds per round:
▶️Tour player: ~3.6
▶️20-index: ~0.3
Tour players are 30+ shots better than a 20-index.
Yet they only average ~3.3 more birds per round.
Only 3.3 of the 30+ shot difference is from birds!
You want to score better?
