On July 13th, after decades of waiting for the chance with Sporadic E, I finally worked my first station from Israel on 144 MHz terrestrial propagation:

Only to be followed by another first QSO via terrestrial propagation, with Cyprus. I'm still a bit excited about this. Too bad OD5 was not copied here, now THAT would have even meant a new DXCC.

It's amazing...yesterday I worked Yuri UT1FG/MM on 2 m via moon from FM75 and the day before from FM52. His signal was around -28 max. It looked stronger but had a lot of drift. Anyway, with his ~200 W out, 1,3 dB cable loss and ~10 dB antenna gain it adds up to some 1500 W ERP.

Getting all my stuff packed for another two weeks at ITU in Geneva from Monday on. Whenever I have time between meetings I'll try to activate 4U1ITU. This is work there, NO dxpedition. So please don't expect too much from my licensed colleagues and me.

Hello Hide san, you have new plans to activate squares in Japan? I hope not between 18 Nov and 28 Nov because I will have to be in Geneva at ITU meetings hi. 73 Bernd

Falcon using crossboom for lookout and keeps other birds away. Sadly he had also tried to land on elements and bend them...already corrected. And the falcon now knows M2 elements are not a good landing place.

Thank you Peter KA6U for activating yet two more very much wanted grid squares in South East USA on 2m EME: EM52 on January 17th and EM42 on 18th. ka6u.blogspot.com/2024/01/up…

CT3 Madeira 2818 km on Tropo 144 MHz. Something which should not be possible given the path profile with high mountains in North West Spain. Anyway, the waves probably did not know...

July 20, 1969 is a date that represents a pinnacle of human achievement - the #Apollo11 Moon landing. And while it was certainly special, it was only part of a long and challenging effort that involved thousands of people working hard and doing their part, resulting in the subsequent Apollo missions taking Americans to the Moon and returning them safely to Earth. It truly was America at its best.

I am very grateful to Bob K6ZZ (DM15AD) for giving me grid square 1400 on 144 MHz on Dec 12th as early Christmas gift. Every now + then Bob drives some miles into the Mojave desert from his home in California City, CA to get QRV on 2 m moon bounce with 200 w out and 2 x 9 ele M2.
