Another problem with this take is that many Black films in the U.S. *have* casted Afro-Latinx talent. For a long time, audiences thought they were African Americans because they casted us far more frequently than white or even Latinx producers.

As @InADash & @bad_dominicana have pointed out, ytinos tell on themselves all the time b/c when ytinos are the face of “latinidad” the expectation is it represents everyone. But when Black latinxs are the leading roles, suddenly they are othered and don’t represent latinxs 😤🗑
