”It’s ridiculous that, of all of the gyms and basketball courts available across this city, the mayor has to commandeer the one facility that is needed to train our police officers. He and his lackeys should just get memberships to the local YMCA and leave the police academy to the professionals.”
New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academy’s gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball — scrambling some operations at the facility. w/ @GrahamRayman & @joeanuta politico.com/news/2026/10/26…

The administration is bragging how it rushed to install 600 red light cameras in record time to “make everyone safe,” while street lights across Staten Island & our city remain broken for months. We have a way to make our streets safer for everyone, and it doesn’t take state legislation or hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment. Just fix the lights! silive.com/news/2026/10/stat…

The latest “lite” version of the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act - or COPA - has been dressed up and rebranded, but it’s still just as dangerous and unconstitutional. COPA is a Trojan horse that its supporters hope will lead to government seizure of private property and the erosion of our rights. It’s a small universe now, but if it’s not stopped in the courts, they will come back for more

Proud to stand w @CMvpaladino alongside owners & workers in the horse-carriage industry. We need fair treatment for those who have invested their lives & livelihoods in this industry. NYC must do what’s right. These electric vehicles, which were supported by anti-horse carriage advocates in the past, would allow them to continue to operate their small businesses & provide support for retired horses
This afternoon, I stood in solidarity with horse-drawn carriage owners on the steps of City Hall to call for a fair transition and present a practical solution as the horse-carriage industry phases out.

The riots in France are a cautionary tale. This is what happens when government overtaxes, overspends, & over-regulates to try to be all things to all people. France’s debt is a whopping 120 percent of GDP. They can’t borrow and spend their way out of this mess anymore. New York City should take note wsj.com/world/europe/rioting…

Families flee the state while costs of education have soared. We’ve gone from no child left behind to every child left behind. It’s well past time for a change

Proud that New York’s Catholic community stands shoulder to shoulder with our Jewish brothers and sisters against the scourge of antisemitism. As someone raised in the Catholic Church, I am grateful to @NY_Arch & the Al Smith Memorial Foundation for being such outspoken allies of our Jewish family in #NYC & beyond!

Last night, I spoke in support of @NassauExec for Governor. Bruce has shown that he gets things done from tax cuts to public safety to quality of life. We need Bruce to turn our state around. Let’s get out there & get him elected. TY Rabbi Segal for letting us speak at the Center

Happy #ColumbusDay to all! As a proud American of Italian descent, I always look forward to celebrating our community and its unique part in our nation’s story each year. We have accomplished and contributed so much, and today, we rightly trumpet the culture, language, history, and legacy of our people. Viva l’Italia, and God bless the United States of America! 🇺🇸 🇮🇹

The rain couldn’t stop me from joining retired FDNY Lt. Enrico Boletti, the National Council of Columbia Associations in Civil Service, Inc. and the @CCFdn at the annual wreath laying ceremony at Columbus Circle. These Italian-Americans are the pride of the uniformed services. Thank you to them for all they do for us each day and for keeping the spirit of #Columbus alive in the Five Boroughs and beyond. #ColumbusDay

Mayor Mamdani’s “Italian Heritage Month” video was an incredibly selfish and self-serving take on Italian-Americans. To recast our community’s vision as somehow in accord with his own is bad history. The Mayor’s socialism is as out of step with the Italian-American community today as Vito Marcantonio’s ultimately was in his own time. The Mayor actively erases our holiday, #ColumbusDay, and then adds insult to injury by perversely claiming our heritage supports his far-Left agenda. George Orwell’s 1985 proves its genius yet again

On the 3rd anniversary of the horrific terrorist attack of October 7th, may we never forget the brutal rape and murder of innocents and the hostages taken by Hamas in the worst massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust. May their memories be a blessing and compel us to recommit to fighting the scourge of antisemitism and terrorism as well as to strengthening our relationships with our allies and those who share our values across the globe

“Much like with the legal action she brought against the president, Attorney General Tish James appears to have already drawn her own conclusions about this incident, without gathering all the facts. I don’t know how anyone could expect her to be fair and objective.” nypost.com/2026/10/03/us-new…

Great to have the @BioBus come to the #DykerHeights Library to give kids a chance to use scientific equipment and learn more about the natural world. Thank you to National Grid for making this happen in cooperation with the @BKLYNlibrary !

Yesterday, was the street co-naming for @NYPDnews Officer Colin Rossiter. Officer Rossiter was a true son of #StatenIsland that followed in the footsteps of a family dedicated to service. He was a proud graduate of Msgr. Farrell HS and had a distinguished service in the NYPD that was tragically cut short. Let his time with us serve as a reminder of the care and support we need to give those who serve and protect. Now, his sign will look directly across the street to the school that he loved. God bless the family and memory of Officer Rossiter

Today, we unveiled the ceremonial street co-naming for Rachel Anne Volpe Way. Rachel was one of the kindest and most dynamic people working for the betterment of #StatenIsland and our city. She was a phenomenal advocate for coronary health as the Executive Director of the Staten Island Heart Society among many other hats she wore. She was taken too soon from her family and all of us, but her legacy will live forever at the corner of the neighborhood she loved so much and in the countless lives saved by the good works of this truly good person. God bless Rachel and her family
