ALT On a background of a person using a speaker to talk to someone is written, “Today’s Gospel helps us learn the importance of listening to God’s Word. God speaks to us through Sacred Scripture, Church Tradition, our teachings, the Saints, and our faith leaders. How do we respond to God’s messenger’s today?”

ALT On a background of scales is written, “O God, who founded all the commands of your sacred Law upon love of you and of our neighbor, grant that, by keeping your precepts, we may merit to attain eternal life.” Today Jesus gives us a vision of a landowner who is radically just, even if our own common sense can't grasp it. We have a God who lavishly pours His love and generosity upon us, even though He owes us nothing. How have you resisted the tendency to confuse love or your own self-worth by thinking only of possessions or gifts?

ALT On a background of two people engaged in a serious conversation is written, “Look upon us, O God, Creator and ruler of all things, and, that we may feel the working of your mercy, grant that we may serve you with all our heart.” Today Jesus demonstrates the transformative nature of His Father's mercy. In the same story, He also shows the effects of hoarding His Father's mercy when it comes to showing no mercy to a neighbor. Think of a time when someone forgave you for a big mistake? Could you forgive someone else for a smaller mistake?

ALT On an image of two people in conflict is written, “O God, by whom we are redeemed and receive adoption, look graciously upon your beloved sons and daughters, that those who believe in Christ may receive true freedom and an everlasting inheritance.” Today Jesus addresses conflict between two people within one's community. As Jesus proposes a path toward reconciliation, he fortifies it by announcing He is in our midst when we gather in His name. When you face conflict, seek resolution through Jesus and His Church.

ALT On a background of a man carrying a cross is written, “God of might, giver of every good gift, put into our hearts the love of your name, so that, by deepening our sense of reverence, you may nurture in us what is good and, by your watchful care, keep safe what you have nurtured.” Jesus shows us the way of discipleship is through the cross. Why would He ask us to deny our very selves and lean into the most difficult aspects of our lives? Perhaps just like Peter, we forget to let God be God for us. Let's ask Jesus for courage today to serve Him and others.
