Home today recovering from surgery last week. Nothing requiring PT, nothing life threatening, just need to rest.
How do people do it??? I'm bored. Into the fifth day of taking it easy and I'm ready to climb the walls.
So ... yes ... yes ... I did look at my emails.

Unexpected cool thing that happened at @creisummit
Got to see Maxine perform on stage for the first time in MANY MANY years.
She sang 6 or 7 songsβ¦and she had a first: performing with a live band.
She LOVED it.
And yes, I am still the mom who takes video of her kid on stage.

I wasn't always the easiest kid. It was only later in life that I found out he had passed on major opportunities so we could stay close to family. He never made a thing of it. That was just who he was.
He was the landlord who brought fresh vegetables to a tenant in bad health. His best friends were family. He would do just about anything for just about anyone.
Today I talked with a lot of people who knew him. Every one of them said the same thing. They loved him. And then came the stories.
I'm going to be lost for a while. But I'll hold on to the two sentences he said more times than I can count:
I'm proud of you.
I love you.
Dad, I'm proud of you. I love you.

Just wrapped up the @creisummit in Savannah, and Iβm still riding the high from it.
The @JWMarriott Savannah deserves its own paragraph. Every detail of this property was expertly crafted. The flow of the event spaces to the little touches most people wonβt consciously notice, showed real foresight. This is an amazing adaptive re-use project that still feels purpose built. Thatβs rare. Execution that clean doesnβt happen by accident. Congratulations to the Kessler Collection for this execution. I know it was a labor of love.
Huge thanks to @HREAdvisor for pushing me to make the trip. He was right, as usual. And to @kenashley for being such a gracious host and making sure everyone felt like the summit was built around them, not just attended by them. And to all of the speakers, staff, and sponsors for their involvement to pull this off.
The content itself delivered. Real substance, not just conference filler you sit through waiting for the next break.
But the best part, like always, was the people. Getting to see friends in person again, catching up with folks Iβve only known through social media, and making a handful of new connections I know will matter down the road.
And the laughs. So many laughs. Thatβs the part that never makes it into the recap deck, but itβs the part that actually sticks with you.

What is your favorite US National Park?
Mine?
Canyon Lands near Moab, UT. 200 miles of military roads (US mined plutonium till depletion) that allow you to drive a rental car in super remote areas. You smile as you come around every curve.
SO beautiful.
