A college football complete re alignment thread: 🧵:
What if FBS scrapped the conferences and rebuilt everything by geography? 138 teams, 5 regions, 15 pods, 24-team playoff.
Disclaimer: I'm just a fan. No idea about the TV money or logistics behind this. Just for fun 👇
24-team sim: same ratings, 20,000 more seasons.
Bubble teams like Ohio State, Tennessee and LSU are back in, plus some weaker pod champs.
Final four: Georgia, Texas, UCLA, Indiana. 🏆 Georgia over UCLA again, but the title odds dip to ~17%.
That's the thread. Would this actually work?
I think 18 game seasons is a stretch. BUT, I think going by regions would be fun and would eliminate the bias in the playoffs.
Also thought: no rankings? Rank at week 10-11. Mix pods up each yr. Who knows?
