(1/2) I just know movie’s production is gonna be even more meaningful for the entire team considering this’ll be Eric’s very last project, especially under Looney Tunes. It’s gonna hurt knowing Eric didn’t get to fully see this movie’s production and release…
‘Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical’ was confirmed to be Eric Bauza’s final project during his lifetime. Before Bauza’s passing, the film was put back into pre-production after being previously shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery.

I’m just…shattered ❤️‍🩹 Eric was a shining beacon of light for animation & VO everywhere. An icon of all things looney. His wide-spread career is the kind I hope to achieve someday. I’m just glad I got to thank him in person for all he’s done, even if it was just once. RIP
Eric Bauza died at his home yesterday from hypertensive cardiovascular disease, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records.

Western animation studios have lately become adamant that their movies should not be remotely challenging or emotionally complex because they want to be as "box office safe" as possible. It's destroying the industry and Laika seems to be one of the few voices willing to say no.
‘Big City Greens’ storyboard artist Gabi Rodea encourages parents to have their children see ‘Wildwood’ for its mature storytelling. “Big studios like Disney and Paramount want to sanitize stories, effectively training children not to think about sadness or fear. Wildwood is for kids to be inspired by how they feel when they see a great movie.”

Travis Knight’s words harken back to Don Bluth’s philosophy. “Kids can handle scary and intense stories, so long as there’s a happy ending.”
Travis Knight says WILDWOOD (2026), LAIKA’s first PG-13 film, refused to shy away from the brutal realities of violence, loss and grief. The director believes modern cinema often underestimates younger audiences, arguing that children deserve stories that take their emotions seriously rather than shielding them from every difficult subject. “Modern cinema generally tends to talk down to young audiences. But young people experience loss. They know what it’s like to feel afraid.” Knight says the violence was never meant to be glorified, but to show its traumatic consequences. The goal was to tell an honest story that earns its moments of hope by confronting darkness rather than watering it down. (Via: nytimes.com/2026/10/24/movie…)

Every other animation studio in Hollywood cuts dark scenes to keep a PG rating and secure toy deals. LAIKA took 7 years to handcraft puppets, got a PG-13 for tragic violence, and told the press that kids need to understand loss; all backed by Nike money
Travis Knight says that ‘WILDWOOD’ had to be PG-13 due to the tragic acts of violence seen in the film. “Modern cinema generally tends to talk down to young audiences. But young people experience loss. They know what it’s like to feel afraid.” (Source: nytimes.com/2026/10/24/movie…)

"We want GOOD original movies" Wildwood is one of the best animated films of the decade "There wasn't any marketing" Had more views than doomsday just admit that you guys are filled with excuses and only want to be performative when it comes to supporting original films
‘Wildwood’ had the year’s most-watched trailers, reaching 90M views and surpassing ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ The film opened to $11M at the domestic box office.

Travis Knight says there are multiple upcoming projects in development for LAIKA: “We have stories that take the medium of animation into places that it's never gone before, stories that challenge us in different ways. And I'm excited that we're playing around in some genres that we've never explored before.”
