Absolute peak comedy on the international stage 🇮🇳🇱🇰
Why should serving and retired IAF officers have the luxury of playing an elite game like golf & sip beer after a game? They should instead play the ridiculous game that RSS guys play in their shakhas and only have chai made by "nalla gas". Be patriotic and show more loyalty.
Then they came for me—
And there was no one left
To speak out for me.

Many bangers in the @ajaishukla piece about the Hindutva-isation of the military brass but this one: For no apparent reason, the IAF appears to be more Sanskrit-ised than the other two services. One wag at a recent seminar commented, “it might be because they serve closer to God”

There are many good things about the Indian Army but this aspect is an exception. Let me elaborate this be coz improvement will come from acceptance of the problems.
The promotion system:
The Indian Army has a very steep promotion pyramid. The promotion is decided overwhelmingly on CRs. The CRs are written on personal loyalties. Merit alone doesn’t help but merit with submissiveness and compliance helps. As a result the submissive and the compliant rise to the top and they in turn reward similar traits down below.
2014 and Modi Raj.
The Modi Government decided to control all institutions. The Armed forces were no exception. The political control was quite easy. The strict command structure ensures total control over the forces by control of merely few top brasses. The govt came up with the “ Deep selection model” for promotion to the highest ranks, overriding the extant “Seniority principle”.
The Messaging!
Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi an exceptional General was superseded to promote the compliant and supine Gen Bipin Rawat, who incidentally was also related to the NSA. The message reverberated thru the entire hierarchy. Later, in order to promote Lt-General Ranbir Singh, who was the DGMO during the “surgical strikes”, rules for mandatory residual service for promotion to Army Commanders were amended and reduced to 18 months from the extant 24 months. Then later Gen Bipin Rawat was rewarded with CDS appointment. The messaging - Carrot vs Stick - was complete.
A top rank pool of ultra submissive personally ambitious officers was ready to toe the government line. The loyalty to govt and loyalty to constitution overlapped.
The Solution !
The promotion funnel of the Army should be at par with IPS. If every officer is assured of an IG rank he will dare to be bold and exploratory. He will carry and communicate an authoritative military personality and perspective respectively. However the top brass somehow prioritizes superiority over own juniors rather than parity with peers outside. Thats why it killed NFU. The Top Brass fail to see that the outsiders see them as part of the same cadre where most retire as Lt Colonel/ Colonel. By becoming a General one doesn’t cease to belong to the cadre from which he rose. The Army brass lacks vision, in that it competes within, whereas the civil agencies compete outside.
My op-ed in @the_hindu newspaper this morning, on the leadership deficit in the military.
"There is something gravely flawed with our leadership training. Many young officers start out as gallant captains and majors. Why then, when they become generals, admirals and air marshals do so many fail to seize the moment?"

An extremely sensible message she has for all those who use these Haldi-Kumkum sachets.
Let’s be a little more sensitive to our Earth and avoid such mindless practices which if avoided can do a whole lot of good to our environment.
Kindly share it so it can be amplified.
British meteorogist Clement Wragge began the trend of naming cyclones after people, particularly politicians he didn't like. This allowed him to say they were causing great harm or were wandering aimlessly.

“Apparently, the solution to every crisis in 2026 is to hold a press conference about 1947. Our current Prime Minister has developed an extraordinary relationship with time. For every present failure, he takes you backwards. For every unfulfilled promise, he sends you to 2047. Fast fast forward. The only place he appears reluctant to stay is the present. And that, dear friends, is where you actually live.”

This gentleman has gone “mental”.
This is the best use of AI that only Indians can come up with.
Narendra Modi is talking to a baba through AI who died in 1993.
Baba, who is no longer in this world, tells Narendra Modi, “I remember meeting you in 1993, when I asked you to have some prasad.”
Baba then says, “I am proud that you are the PM of this country.”
And then comes the best part: “Narendra, please have some prasad today. Don’t make excuses by saying you’re fasting!”
If you still think India is progressing under his leadership after watching this in 2026, my friend, I’m sorry, but you seriously need help.

Another fatal luxury car crash that killed a scooterist in Kerala by a 17 year old, son of District Judge ⚠️
Victim's Niece was told,
"Don't teach me law, you have no rights to question me" - Minor's father(additional district judge)
"Don't overreact and get emotionally driven, he is just a 17 year old kid" - Kerala Police
The accident occurred at around 2:20 AM to 3:00 AM at Cheranalloor in Kochi. A speeding luxury Mercedes-Benz car, registered under the name of the additional judge, rammed into a scooter from behind. The scooter rider, 55-year-old Jayabalakrishnan of Manjali, was killed. He was a local street vendor returning home after closing his wayside eatery (thattukada) near a temple in Chittoor.
The 17-year-old minor, who does not possess a driving license, reportedly took the car out for a night drive. He was speeding at 100km/hr while the crash occured as per reports. The victim's niece JAYALAKSHMI claims that the accused was not shown to them at the police station and Kerala police insisted them to not get emotionally driven by this incident as if this isn't a big loss at all. The father of the 17 year old accused who is a district court judge spoke rudely at the police station asking them not to teach him law as per Jayalakshmi's claim.
The central issue is the loss of a human life. Jayabalakrishnan's family has suffered an irreversible loss, and the circumstances surrounding his death must be investigated thoroughly. The victim and his family deserve justice, while the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings must establish responsibility on the basis of evidence rather than influence, status or public speculation.
