Grant Yun is exploding.
His ascent is feeling unstoppable.
I wanted to write a short thread on why I decided to buy ‘Space in the Mid Century,’ in January, which set the record ATH price for his work at the time (10.3 eth).
A thread 🧵
In 6529, the “gatekeepers” are the community of holders who minted or bought cards, along with winning artists who received them for free.
Decentralization isn’t about giving everyone a vote. It’s about fair rules that apply equally to everyone, with no central authority enjoying special privileges. Equal opportunity, not equal outcome. This is exactly how I would describe Bitcoin as well.
6529 isn’t a communist society built to support artists. It’s a network state designed to grow itself while funding public goods, including art, software, science, research, etc.
The tech stack includes its own censorship-resistant coordination app, a novel decentralized decision network, and a growing set of smart contracts, including new ones designed to increase artist revenue.
The goal is to be the third most decentralized chain at the launch of the network by independent validator count (coming soon!!). This is a beautiful ambition which should be supported not torn down.
IMHO, 6529 has delivered more value to more artists than any other platform. Yes, the network takes 50% to fund its own growth, but it has no VCs or special insiders to fund it. The Memes is the only funding mechanism for the network state and mints are open to anyone with an internet connection.
Also, once the chain is live next year, the broad community of aligned TDH holders who have participated in the open minting process or artists who have won submissions will control that treasury together.
I look forward to valid criticisms of the network state from people looking to improve the project. To criticize you must first understand. I see a lot of the criticism. Very little understanding.
I’m sure we will see many good ideas from community members, artists and builders as the project grows.
Also, gmarfa

1/ Herbert W. Franke was one of the first computer artists, starting in the 1950s, decades before NFTs existed. Flamingo holds works from his Math Art series. A short thread 🧵👇

This is why I call us a generation of cowards. We’ve basically said: we want stuff now. Sorry kids, you’re going to have to pay for it with your future. Go fuck yourselves.

In a world increasingly bereft of taste, collecting and supporting the arts will become a last vestige of individuality.
Some great art being acquired
Think we will look back on these sales with an open jaw…

You love to see it 👏👏
Thank you @Space_Sprockets for acquiring a Twin Flames 👯♀️👯♀️
We've spent a year searching for the right portrait for your collection, and today it happened at 17.17 ETH, thanks to @cl7official.
@cl7official has been one of my closest collectors and patrons for years, supporting every collection I've made. He sold this portrait to our friend @Space_Sprockets, then turned around and acquired another Twin Flames from me for 11.11 ETH, the one I bought back a few weeks ago for 8.88 ETH.
This is a story of friendship, patience, and conviction. The artist's conviction that whether it takes a week, a month, or years, it will happen. And the collector's conviction in their artist's dreams.
Maybe we're both a little crazy and delusional, but that's what keeps the fire burning bright 🔥🔥
Incredible 🧡
Love the interplay with traditional motifs and art history

In the decades to come, pre-AI, human-made NFTs will be regarded as the dinosaur fossils of the digital age. Their scarcity will be almost incomprehensible. They will become the most coveted artefacts ever excavated from the ruins of the early internet, fragments of the last great human creative epoch, preserved perfectly onchain. Museums will fight wars over them. Nations will build monuments around them. Future historians will look upon early art blocks and see not a JPEG, but the last footprint of humanity before the machines began making everything.
Yep
my plans are literally measured in decades
and i am more bullish on pre-AI-age art NFTs than any other asset class over the next 5-15 years

This is needed
Recent hacks across both custodians and self-custody solutions keep raising the same question: how to hold and manage your assets.
The market was missing an account where you hold your own keys, with the institutional infrastructure built around them: recovery, succession, transaction policies, pre-signature screening, and a dedicated relationship manager. We built it, and we call it a Private Custody account.
We believe there is no single answer for every holder, and that there should be many good ones.
Time to bring some art back to the TL
