Kingdom of the Clock, my novel in verse about contemporary urban living, is finally for sale.
The first pages are attached for curious cats; for those worthies who want to read on, go to the library, send me a DM, or: amazon.com/Kingdom-Clock-Nov…
Publishing poetry is like tossing a rose in the Grand Canyon and waiting for the echo, they say - but a blurb is like an echo heard before you let go!
What echo? The kind words of the wonderful poet, translator, editor, and scholar, 👑 @BorisDralyuk for Kingdom of the Clock!
Spoke with a woman today who has been terribly sick for a month. She told me she watched Emma Thompson's Sense and Sensibility 19 times over the stretch.
Muzzleloader season!!! Of all the topics for a poem, one I never thought I'd see in the real world.
Thanks to @newversereview for publishing "Muzzleloader Season." Here's the beginning, click on the link to read the whole thing. @NHfishandgame newversereview.com/issue-3-4…
Vladimir Nabokov once referred to Dostoevsky as “author of The Double and other works.”
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde came out 4 years before Picture of Dorian Grey, but I’ve just now discovered Dostoyevsky wrote a novella on the theme of dual identity as well called The Double that came out prior to either…friends, is this a good autumn read?? I just finished Jekyll and Hyde and it was great fall reading

"[A] great work of art demands great labour. It wants fussiness, obsessiveness, struggle. It wastes time, not water—a rebuke to our optimization overlords."

One of my favorite poems I've written. I was deeply moved by Rhina Espaillat's comments on it at the reading.
You watch—it’s more than time you tell. You’ve taught
me how to spring ahead, though I fall back;
to wind against the wind by changing tack;
that bearings must be smooth; that seas are not;

Sorry to vaguetweet, but I got news today that makes me think it would be a good idea for poets to submit to the upcoming issue of @PoemsforPOI rather than waiting for the next time around. Just do it!

The funny thing about poetry, and the arts generally, is that two great poems, totalling 679 lines of verse, are sufficient to establish immortality.

The chances of getting work from Twitter connections are slim, but I could really use some right now. Copy editing, proofreading, manuscript review, instructional design.

Coincidentally why I’m going to be drinking Armagnac and reading Autumn of the Patriarch within 30 seconds.
“We’ve travelled to the moon. Earth’s secondary light,
And touched night’s quiet lamp without the help of dreams.
We’ve mapped the sea’s deep floor and joined the birds in flight;
All nymphs have left their streams.”

I'm especially proud to be the publisher of this poem.

I’m no Andrew Scott, but it’s worth having this one in your head.
