Christopher Hitchens: ”In 1786, when the United States was barely a country, it was having its sailors taken as slaves by the Barbary states, the states of the Ottoman Empire and North Africa. Tripoli, shores of Tripoli. Ships stopped, its crews carried off into slavery. We estimate 1.5 million European and American slaves taken between 1750 and 1815. Jefferson and Adams went to their ambassador in London and said, why do you do this to us? The United States has never had a quarrel with the Muslim world of any kind. We weren't in the crusades. We weren't at war with Spain. Why do you do this to our people and our ships? Why do you plunder and enslave our people? The ambassador said very plainly, Mr. Abdul Rahman said, because the Quran gives us permission to do so, because you are infidels, and that's our answer. Jefferson said, well, in that case, I will send a navy which will crush your state, which he did. Islamic fundamentalism is not created by American democracy. It's a lie to say so. It's a masochistic lie, and it excuses those who are the real criminals, and blames us for the attacks made upon us.”

It's funny that Democrats have a guy that can win by Assad margins in a must-win swing state but he's not even talked about for 2028 because he's Jewish.

Not a single Muslim-owned shop or mosque was looted during the riots in France. On one street in Marseille, where 40% of the population is Muslim, ALL Jewish-owned businesses were set on fire, while not a single Muslim-owned business was touched. The odds of that happening by random chance are 1 in 123 billion. These were targeted pogroms. The rioters had lists of addresses identifying which shops to attack.

Think about who’s causing — and benefitting from — these riots.

The shine on candy corn is bug resin. Brach's calls it confectioner's glaze. The bag reads sugar, corn syrup, then 2% or less of salt, dextrose, confectioner's glaze (shellac), gelatin, honey, artificial flavors, sesame oil, Yellow 5, Yellow 6 and Red 40. Shellac is what a lac insect leaves on tree branches in India and Thailand. It gets scraped off the bark, cleaned, dissolved in alcohol and tumbled over the candy, and it dries into the same hard coat that goes on a hardwood floor. That's the shine, and it's why the pieces don't glue themselves together in the bag. The gelatin is pork or beef collagen, there for the chew. The honey Brach's puts on the front of the bag is under 2%, behind the salt. Bags on shelves this fall list Red 40. Last year's listed Red 3, which FDA pulled from food in January 2025 with a 2027 deadline. Brach's says it makes about 7 billion kernels a year.

May 5, 1945. Hitler has been dead for five days. The war in Europe is almost over. In a castle in the Austrian Alps, American soldiers, German soldiers, and a group of elderly French prisoners grab rifles and get ready to fight the SS. Together. The castle was called Schloss Itter. The Nazis had turned it into a prison for very important people. Not ordinary prisoners. Trophies. Inside were two former prime ministers of France, Paul Reynaud and Édouard Daladier. Two of France's top generals, Maxime Weygand and Maurice Gamelin. A famous tennis champion, Jean Borotra. And the older sister of Charles de Gaulle. As the Reich collapsed in early May, the SS guards panicked and ran. The prisoners suddenly found themselves in charge of a castle, with weapons left behind, and a serious problem. Waffen-SS units were still roaming the area. Fanatics who would gladly kill them all. They needed help. Fast. One of the castle's prisoners, a Yugoslav handyman, slipped out on a bicycle to find the Americans. Separately, a German army officer named Major Josef Gangl also went looking for them. Gangl was a Wehrmacht officer who had turned against the Nazis and was secretly working with the Austrian resistance. He wanted to protect the prisoners too. He found an American tank commander named Captain Jack Lee. Lee was 27, tough, cigar chewing, and willing to do something insane. With a single Sherman tank and a handful of American soldiers, he drove up into the mountains alongside Gangl and a few of his German troops. They reached the castle on May 4. The French prisoners were not exactly thrilled to see a tiny rescue force. They had expected an army. Instead they got a few Americans, a few Germans, and one tank. The next morning, the SS attacked. Somewhere between 100 and 150 Waffen-SS troops hit the castle with machine guns, mortars, and anti-tank weapons. The defenders fought back from the walls and windows. Americans and Germans side by side. The French prisoners refused to hide. Some of them, including Reynaud, picked up weapons and joined in. The Sherman tank was knocked out. The defenders were running out of ammunition. It looked like the castle would fall. Then Jean Borotra, the tennis star, volunteered to make a run for it. He jumped the wall, slipped past the SS, and sprinted through the countryside to find American reinforcements. He found them. And he insisted on coming back with them to finish the fight. During the battle, Major Gangl saw Paul Reynaud exposed to gunfire and moved to pull him to safety. A sniper shot Gangl dead. He had survived the whole war as a German soldier, only to die defending French prisoners from the SS in its final days. That afternoon, the American relief force arrived and broke the attack. The SS were scattered and captured. The prisoners were saved. Jack Lee received the Distinguished Service Cross. In Austria, Josef Gangl is remembered as a hero, and a street is named after him. It is believed to be the only battle of the war where American and German soldiers fought together on the same side.

These constant "mistakes" related to reporting on Gaza reveal a fundamental issue the West is unequipped to deal with: What if an an entire society; doctors, journalists etc. are participants in a militant system? What if children are bred to hate & kill? What if every civilian building is by definition a military site because it has a dual use purpose, as countless examples show. What do you do with a society which will simply never cease to try and exterminate the other?
The New York Post just revealed that the Gazan doctor who wrote two opinion pieces in the New York Times, accusing Israel of genocide after October 7th, is actually a Hamas terrorist himself. It turns out that Dr. Hussam Abu Safyia is a Hamas Colonel.

Christians will not hijack planes in the name of Jesus. Jews will not blow themselves up in the name of Moses. Mormons will not behead you for leaving the faith. But there is one religion that absolutely DOES do these things on a daily basis. Can you guess which one?

Hannah Arendt said the rise of antisemitism is a sign of impending totalitarianism because it reveals that the society in question has given itself over to conspiracy theories and abandoned reason.

Note that Hamas if Hamas wanted to release hostages, it never had to "offer" to do so. It could have not taken them to begin with, or could have released them at any time without "offering." What Hamas wanted, in fact, was to release a small subset of the hostages in exchange for Israel not undertaking any military effort after 10/7, including to rescue the remaining hostages. Hasan of course knows this, and what he's really saying is that Israel should have let Hamas win a a war by murdering 1,200 Israelis, and then exchanging most of the hostages for every terrorist in Israel's prisons, with Hamas then able to prepare for infinite repeats of 10/7. It's not an exaggeration to say that such a "deal" would have meant the end of Israel. Hasan of course knows that too, which is why he thinks it was a good idea.
