Yaxel Lendeborg on his NBA debut:
“That was interesting. I got to see what the NBA’s like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul-baiting, lot of crying to the ref. Interesting first game for me, for sure.”
Final: Lakers 127, Warriors 105
Luka Doncic welcomed Yaxel Lendeborg to the league. Warriors took care of the ball early before unraveling in the third quarter. Walker Kessler made all 12 of his shots (11 dunks). GSW down 4 of its top 6 players, and it looked like it. 81 to go.
Walker Kessler is 11-for-11 with 11 dunks. The Lakers boat-raced the Warriors in the third quarter. It's 90-61. Golden State won't have to find a way to cobble together 48 legitimate center minutes, because this one's on ice already.
Yaxel Lendeborg and Luka Doncic have been jawing back and forth for most of the second quarter. After Lendeborg got an iso stop, he got slapped with his first NBA technical foul.
Warriors have run out a Niang/Draymond/Horford front line and then a jumbo lineup of Williams-Lendeborg- Santos-Niang-Horford.
Positional size and length mitigated the thin center situation. Much of those mins were with Austin Reaves sitting; he'll test their quickness.
Steph Curry first shift of the season: 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting in 8 minutes.
Matisse Thybulle was overplaying him, so he went backdoor three times.
Warriors' starting lineup for Game 1 of 82:
Steph Curry
De'Anthony Melton
Gui Santos
Yaxel Lendeborg
Draymond Green
Green, Al Horford, and Graham Ike are the active traditional centers. GSW will probably have to get creative at the position tonight.
Steve Kerr said the Warriors are hopeful Brandin Podziemski (back) will be in the lineup Thursday at home vs Memphis.
Kerr didn’t have anything to add on Kristaps Porzingis, who is out indefinitely and won’t be with the team. “We don’t really know,” Kerr said.
Jimmy Butler has been getting some shots up on the Crypto.com Arena court here pregame.
The Warriors released a statement in response to today's ESPN report about Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis was expected to be around the team after meeting with Mike Dunleavy and Rick Celebrini last week. Now, not so.
Charles Bassey (knee) ruled out for tonight’s season opener @ Lakers. Warriors will be down to Draymond Green, Al Horford, and two-way Graham Ike at center.

Here’s the latest update on Kristaps Porzingis. He’s again away from the team. No move imminent, but Warriors shifting more toward reality that he’s a trade chip as expiring $20 million salary-match than their starting center.

Mike Dunleavy is 100% transparent about his focus this season.
“For me this year, as I watch games, there’s two scoreboards: There’s the Warriors versus whoever we’re playing, and there’s the Warriors versus turnovers."

Great convo with @DannyEmerman on the Warriors' 26-27 season. We're going to be doing this with a regularity, so press buttons. youtu.be/Bgg4hR8XN_I

World premiere of "Dubs HQ," a regular Warriors show with @dieter.

I think this show's going to be really fun. Dieter and I have been friends for years and we don't always see the game the same way, so there should be lots of healthy debate. He always has takes, and I'll bring boots-on-the-ground insight.
Plan is to have the show out on all podcast platforms, but subscribe to my YouTube channel here: youtube.com/@dannyemerman?si…
