NEW ARTICLE: More Than Miles - Lift Heavy, Run Faster! Endurance runners are often criticized because they like to collect Strava miles & don’t like to lift! But a high-intensity strength program will help you run faster & accumulate better quality miles gabbettperformance.com.au/mo…

The first intervention study that compared the adaptations to push (PIMA) and hold (HIMA) is finally published. Our results showed that PIMA led to greater strength improvement while HIMA led to slightly greater hypertrophy. ovid.com/jnls/nsca-jscr/abst…

Results of our latest study showed that heavy dynamic strength has ⬆️ relation with fast dynamic strength but iso strength may have a ⬆️ relation with reactive strength. Compared to heavy dynamic strength iso RFD has weaker relation with fast dynamic and reactive strength.

The question now may be, why is there a need to perform isometric strength tests on top of a heavy dynamic strength test? Apart from being fast, safe and less fatiguing, isometric strength test requires less skill. Hence, the peak force obtained can be considered pure strength.

So, when we see improvement in both 1RM squat and iso squat, we may infer that the improvement in 1RM squat is partly due to improved force generation capability and not just improved coordination/movement proficiency.

For practitioners working with competitive sprinters, results in this article provide robust normative group mean practice data at the highest level of T&F, while simultaneously illustrating the variety of kinematic strategies that can be employed to achieve elite performance.
Excited to announce our latest publication examining initial acceleration in elite Americans sprinters, published in Sports Biomechanics. This sample of athletes included male sprinters with a group mean 100m PR < 9.9s and female sprinters with a group mean 100m PR < 10.9s!
