This did not at all come to fruition.
No. 15 Amirkhamza Nasridinov (Texas A&M) lost in the second round while No. 61 Bryan Hernandez Cortes (Miss State) fell in the QF.
The ITA implemented a lottery system for the extra spots at the Conference Masters instead of giving byes.
Securing one of five lottery spots, the SEC is poised to put two more players in the men's NCAA singles field.

That Osuigwe v. Zampardo match is so compelling. Rematch from ACC semis that didn’t finish because of Mia Slama’s signature clinching win over Brantmeier.
Zampardo “ghost transfer” drama maybe still lingering. Both players looking to qualify in singles in addition to doubles.
Only eight spots remain in the NCAA Singles Championship field. All that's left is ITA Sectional quarterfinal playoff action.

It appears that the Conference Masters, Men’s East Sectional, and Women’s South Sectional are using the new live scoring app.
That’s 3 of 9 major D1 events happening this weekend.
PlaySight has been integrated for the Conference Masters event, was not previously on MatchTennis

World Tennis Number (WTN) has faced scrutiny since it was fully adopted as college tennis' rating system in 2023. Where does it stand in 2026?
ITA CEO David Mullins: “There were a lot of issues with the WTN early on that have been resolved."

The SEC men's doubles selection for the Conference Masters event is listed as TBD. 🤔
It's the only entry like that.
“Age alone does not explain the issue—and it should not become a proxy for nationality… A few unusual cases may draw attention online, but the broader age gap [for intls] is small. The question is how college athletics should account for extensive professional experience”
ITA CEO David Mullins takes a stand defending international athletes in college athletics, pointing to age as the bigger driver of the over-professionalization of the college game.
