Progressives praise tolerance, but George Washington knew better. In his 1790 letter to the Jews of Newport, he advocated for natural #equality over tolerance—a vital difference for the safety of #Jewish community in America today. My latest for @TheBlaze theblaze.com/columns/opinion…

🔥NEW: Clarence Thomas — full remarks on progressivism, its foundations, history, and impact from his appearance at University of Texas at Austin:
“Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, and Mao were all intertwined with the rise of progressivism, and all were opposed to the natural rights on which our Declaration is based.”
"Many progressives expressed admiration for each of them shortly before their governments killed tens of millions of people."
"It comes as no surprise that the progressives embraced eugenics... It was only a small step for Wilson to resegregate the federal workforce."
"It was only another step for the government to launch sterilization programs on those deemed by the experts of the day to be unfit to reproduce."
“European thinkers have long criticized America for remaining trapped in a Lockean world, with its weakened, decentralized government and strong individual rights. They say our 18th-century Declaration has prevented us from progressing to higher forms of government."
"But we were fortunate not to trade our Lockean bonds for the supposedly enlightened world of Hegel, Marx, and their followers. Fascism, which after all was national socialism, triggered wars in Europe and Asia that killed tens of millions."
"The socialism of the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic of China proceeded to kill tens of millions more of their own people. This is what happens when natural rights give way to higher-good notions of history or progress, or, as Thomas Sowell has written, the visions of the anointed."
"None of this, of course, was an improvement on the principles of the Declaration. Tocqueville's Democracy in America is largely about how America owed its superiority over Europe to its conscious decision to reject central planning and administrative rule, root and branch."
"Progressivism, in other words, is retrogressive.”

There are thousands of people on this app who keeps saying “I didn’t agree with Charlie Kirk on much, but…”
My question is how many of you disagreed with him in accepting the foundational idea of the Declaration of independence?
Charlie believed in natural rights. The rights the Declaration wrote were self-evident truths. The natural right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Like America’s founders, Charlie knew that these rights didn’t come from government, but were granted to us as human beings. That they exist naturally in the world. I would guess that’s what many of these people would disagree with.
In fact, just last week we heard former Vice Presidential nominee, Senator Tim Kaine say that “the notion that rights don’t come from laws or the government, but come from the creator… the statement that our rights do not come from laws or government is extremely troubling.“ Comments eerily reminiscent of similar sentiments made in 1991 by then Senator Joe Biden, who had already served 17 years on the Senate Judiciary Committee, that he was troubled by Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas’s devotion to these ideas of natural rights. This is shared denial that goes back generations, shared by LBJ, FDR, Woodrow Wilson, Charles Merriam, John Dewey, Steven A. Douglass, and John C. Calhoun, to name a few.
If this is where you disagree with Charlie Kirk, the only alternative is to believe in nihilism. To believe that there are no truths. To believe the world is based on feelings and what feels true and good and right to you. To believe in conversations beginning by differentiating between your truth, my truth, his truth, her truth, or their truth.
My question then becomes this… if you don’t believe in natural, self evident truths, then how do you know that his murder was wrong?
By telling us you disagree with him, but there should never be political violence is hypocritical and antithetical. Those two ideas cannot exist in the same space. How can you say that political violence is wrong, or any violence is wrong, and simultaneously claim there are no self-evident truths like the truths that Charlie Kirk espoused? Something is either truly, universally wrong, or just your opinion that has no basis to be accepted by others.
If you say “(you) disagree with him, but…”consider that maybe the problem is that you disagreed with him in the first place.

Charlie Kirk in his own words.
"When people stop talking, that's when you get violence."
Time to do some recruiting @CUBuffsMBB. How many of these kids would love to play down the road from Jokic.

David Friedberg Breaks Down Zohran Mamdani's Win in NYC: The College Debt Crisis Has Led Young People to Socialism
"It's really a revolution against the system that brought them to this moment."
"Because the promise that we gave in America, the American Dream, was if you go to college, you will graduate, you will have income, you will have stability, you'll be able to buy a home."
"And what we did is we increased the government's role in making that dream possible, and in doing so, we created effectively a system where we gave unrestricted access to capital, which inflated the cost of education."
" People could go to school like Zohran and major in African studies and graduate with $200-300K of debt and then never get a job. The guy has not had a real job. And this is the truth for 32 million young Americans."
" They all have what is called negative capital. They have debt and they will never be able to get out of that cycle."
"So where do you turn in that moment? You don't go turn to corporations to solve your problems. You don't go turn to your friends and your siblings and your family, they're not gonna bail you out."
"You turn to the voting booth, and you hear a guy like Zohran show up and say, 'There can be a better path forward.' The better path forward is the government can and should do more to help."
"And in doing more to help, we will increase government, we will tax the rich, we will tax the corporations. We will take all of that capital and we will redistribute it in the form of services and checks and support for all of the people that find themselves unable to take care of themselves."
"And this becomes a tipping point when the majority of the voter base ends up in that situation where they're that deeply in need, where they have negative capital."
"And that is the situation America finds itself in today."

This group leads the pro-Palestinian rallies in NYC. Don’t ever try to tell me this movement isn’t fundamentally violent.

Dear Members of the @PulitzerPrizes board,
My name is Emily Damari. I was held hostage in Gaza for over 500 days.
On the morning of October 7, I was at home in my small studio apartment in Kibbutz Kfar Aza when Hamas terrorists burst in, shot me and dragged me across the border into Gaza. I was one of 251 men, women, children, and elderly people kidnapped that day from their beds, their homes, and a music festival.
For almost 500 days I lived in terror. I was starved, abused, and treated like I was less than human. I watched friends suffer. I watched hope dim. And even now, after returning home, I carry that darkness with me - because my best friends, Gali and Ziv Berman are still being held in the Hamas terror tunnels.
So imagine my shock and pain when I saw that you awarded a Pulitzer Prize to Mosab Abu Toha.
This is a man who, in January, questioned the very fact of my captivity. He posted about me on Facebook and asked, “How on earth is this girl called a hostage?” He has denied the murder of the Bibas family. He has questioned whether Agam Berger was truly a hostage. These are not word games - they are outright denials of documented atrocities.
You claim to honor journalism that upholds truth, democracy, and human dignity. And yet you have chosen to elevate a voice that denies truth, erases victims, and desecrates the memory of the murdered.
Do you not see what this means? Mosab Abu Toha is not a courageous writer. He is the modern-day equivalent of a Holocaust denier. And by honoring him, you have joined him in the shadows of denial.
This is not a question of politics. This is a question of humanity. And today, you have failed it.
