Genesee Co. Sheriff Chris Swanson says he'll attend. Sec. of State Jocelyn Benson says she’ll miss it for a 5:30pm Detroit educators event. If she changes her mind, her chair is open

I spoke out on ICE as a sheriff because it needed to be said. I took the hits then, and I'll take them again. Doing the right thing isn't always easy, but leadership means standing up anyway. Let's walk.

Two interesting bites from Chris Swanson:
1. "There is no frontrunner."
2. "Let Michigan run its own elections."
He's the only Democrat at this gov forum in East Lansing.

Chris Swanson is the Genesee County Sheriff best known for peacefully walking with residents during the George Floyd riots and reducing recidivism through his IGNITE program.
Now running for Michigan Governor in 2026, many say “where there’s a camera, there’s a Swanson.” So I wanted to sit down and get to know the man beyond the one-minute clips.
We talk about his family life, the recent Grand Blanc tragedy, safe patient ratios, reducing crime, vaccine mandates, transparency in government, and more.
