Calling all international medical graduates (IMGs) to participate in @MPS_Medical new survey 📢
Two years ago, we worked closely with @MPS_Medical and other organisations to develop a framework for effective IMG inductions. We'd encourage IMGs to complete this as the findings will help improve everyone's understanding of the impact that this framework is having and any areas for improvement.
We also run free workshops to support doctors new to the UK - Welcome to UK Practice. Adapting to UK practice can be difficult for any doctor, regardless of where you're from or how experienced you are.
Our workshops provide practical advice, information about the professional standards for doctors and we explore different ethical scenarios that you might come across. For more information on our workshops, visit our website - gmc-uk.org/about/what-we-do-…
In 2022 we helped to develop a framework to improve NHS inductions for International Medical Graduates.
Is it working?

Positive changes have been made by @GDC_UK since our report 12 months ago
✅Letters now more empathetic and signpost health/wellbeing support
✅Piloted efforts to expedite simple cases
✅Reviewing the level of detail put into the public domain for interim investigations
One year since we launched our campaign, Dr George Wright reflects on the progress made to reduce the impact of @GDC_UK investigations on mental health in @theprobemag . Read about the several positive developments here: the-probe.co.uk/blog/2024/05…
There is still a lot more to be done, and the feedback from members about the impact an investigation has on their wellbeing is stark. But this is progress worth highlighting. See more in this article from @WrightDentist👆

Huge thanks to @MPS_Medical who were instrumental in getting #WelcomingAndValuingIMGs launched. 🙌🏽
Please do share this short survey widely. We're really keen @gmcuk that these standards to support IMGs are adopted everywhere. 👇🏽
@MPS_Medical was an excellent collaborator in planning the IMG Induction prog. Delighted they have launched a survey to assess the state of play with induction 2 yrs since publication. I urge IMGs to take part as findings will help refine the programme to suit your needs
We are trying to develop an evidence basis on IMG doctors' experience of induction in the NHS. This will help us to push for improvements in the areas where they are most needed. We want as many IMGs to share their experiences as possible. Please retweet and share far and wide!

#SASsix. The biggest barrier to progression in my opinion is historic perception of the role. @sascollective are playing a massive and escalating role in changing this perception. @hipple_laura in a leadership role @RCObsGyn role models what can achieved.
Is there a way to automatically block all messages/people on here that use this “everything except between…” trend?
Its been an absolute pleasure working with @theSAScollect. Really helpful input to inform the terminology we use at Medical Protection and also on the policy issues most impacting on SAS and LE doctors
One of our Medicolegal Consultants, and a SAS doctor, Dr Karen Ellison highlights the importance of doing more for SAS and locally employed doctors. Read more: medicalprotection.org/uk/art…

The past few days have exposed the fragility of the #mentalhealth support network for NHS staff and a worrying disconnect between funding decisions in this area and reality on the ground.
