The differences:
One woman close to me shared something her circle had joked about: if they ever woke up one morning with a penis, they’d want to put it in everything. That image stayed in my head, and it made me notice something about the last few years. Liberals have all of a sudden embraced guns, and mass shootings have climbed at the same time. To me, it’s the identical urge she put into words — acquire something new, and the first instinct is to use it on as many people as possible. Conservatives have always had guns, but we’ve also had training — range time, safety courses, a culture of responsibility that comes with carrying. That’s the difference. It’s not just about owning something new. It’s about whether you understand what it does before you point it at somebody.
