Karen Bass’s closing message to Los Angeles voters is that they should listen to failed comedian George Lopez. That’s what she posted on X Monday. Lopez says ICE and Trump are the real problems in the city.
Not the nearly one million illegal aliens in the county. Not the homelessness crisis. Not the botched wildfire responses. Not the rising taxes. Not the companies and film production leaving California and taking their tax base with them.
Bass has had four years to fix any of this. She hasn’t. Homelessness rose under her administration in the latest count even after large spending increases. The city’s worse off than when she took office.
Spencer Pratt was LA’s only hope but finished third after Bass’s opponent entered the race and split the anti-Bass vote. Plenty of people saw it as a strategy to keep Pratt out of the runoff. It worked. LA will now get another four years of the same poor results Bass has delivered.
The people who stay in LA will have to live with four more years of rising costs and falling quality of life. A lot of residents see this coming and are choosing to leave. That’s the smart move.
This exodus isn’t only happening in LA but all of California. That means tax dollars leaving, so the people who remain shoulder more of the load. California is already one of the most expensive states to live in and taxes keep rising. LA is raising its own local taxes too. And if Becerra becomes governor he said he’ll raise taxes on rich people and is open to new fees on drivers. That’s simply not sustainable. The California collapse is coming.

Becerra will keep raising taxes and expanding spending on illegal aliens. More people will leave. The businesses and workers who still generate the revenue will follow them. California has already tested this model for years. It produces higher costs, worse services, and empty streets. Under Becerra it will accelerate.
