Staggering growth in India’s Defence Production
A giant leap has taken place in the indigenous defence production in the FY 2025-26 by staggering increase in the defence production from ₹ 1.54 lakh crore to ₹ 1.78 lakh crore, registering a net increase of 15.6% over the previous fiscal year.
With the record increase in the indigenous production a huge momentum has been achieved in India’s defence production and marching towards #AatmanirbharBharat.
Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has lauded the efforts of Department of Defence Production and all stakeholders involved in the defence production of the country. Raksha Mantri has called for continued acceleration in the defence production sector with increased private sector participation and growing export capabilities.

As part of #SpecialCampaign6, BDL undertook a systematic review and weeding out of redundant files to promote Swachhata, improve record management and enhance workplace efficiency.
The Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, jointly with Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and in association with PESB, organised the National Defence Talent & Capability Conclave 2026 – A Roundtable Discussion on 22 October 2026 at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi.
Secretary, Department of Defence Production, addressed the participants, highlighting the importance of strengthening senior talent and developing future-ready leadership for India’s defence enterprises. Secretary Department of Public Enterprises Sh. Moses Chalai, Members of Public Entetprises Selection Board Sh. Alkesh Sharma and Sh. Roop Narayan Sunkar and senior leaders of the private sector also addressed the gathering.
The Conclave also brought together CMDs and Directors of all 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), senior government officials from the Ministry of Defence and members of the SCOPE Board.
The deliberations focused on leadership development, talent management and building a robust leadership pipeline to address the evolving requirements of the defence sector.
The initiative underscores the importance of structured leadership development in enhancing institutional capabilities and advancing India’s vision of a self-reliant defence sector.

Ease of Doing Business – Defence R&D/ Manufacturing in Ammunition and Explosives Domain
In a significant policy reform, DPIIT has supported a proposal from the Department of Defence Production, MoD to streamline the framework for R&D in ammunition and explosives.
The Explosives (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026, thus notified on 14th October 2026, supports smaller entrepreneurs including Micro & Small enterprises, startups & women-led enterprises through discounted fee structure, and streamlines R&D framework & safety standards.

Swachhata Special Campaign 6.0 | Stores Department Road, Records & E-Waste
A hundred hands and more! Under Swachhata Special Campaign 6.0, MIDHANI carried out a series of impactful activities:
(1) Removal of vegetation and wild bushes inside the MIDHANI plant, along the roadside of the Stores Department. A total of 102 participants joined the cleanliness drive, collecting and disposing of approximately 3 tonnes of organic waste, cleaning an area of 12,000 sq ft and creating valuable space in the process.
(2) Record management drive — 300 physical files were reviewed and 116 files were weeded out, keeping our records lean, relevant and well-organised.
(3) 100 kg of e-waste was segregated and is being disposed of responsibly — keeping hazardous waste out of landfills and protecting our environment.
Bigger clean-ups, brighter spaces and leaner records — Swachhata at MIDHANI is a movement that never pauses!

As part of Swachhata Special Campaign 6.0, the plastic and cardboard waste collection area at Hangar 2, BEML Palakkad Complex, was cleaned up. The waste was segregated and placed in designated bins to ensure proper disposal and keep the area neat and organised.
It’s these simple, hands-on efforts that make a difference. By making cleanliness and responsible waste disposal a regular practice, we can create a better workplace for everyone.

At the 25th SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting in Dushanbe, Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh called for unified action to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism, asserting that there can be no justification for terrorism or double standards in tackling it.
He also stressed that connectivity must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, and that SCO’s success lies in creating opportunities for youth, entrepreneurs, farmers and small businesses.

The employee option process for absorption into the new DPSUs or otherwise for erstwhile OFB personnel concluded successfully on 15.10.2026, with 99.8% of the total 59,000 personnel exercising their options within the stipulated timeline through a transparent and user-friendly portal.

The Defence MSME Conclave 2026–27 was held on 02 September 2026 in Nashik, Maharashtra. The conclave featured an interactive session where DDP official addressed queries and suggestions from MSMEs, aiming to support small businesses and strengthen collaboration across the defence manufacturing ecosystem.

Strengthening India–Kazakhstan Defence Industrial Cooperation! 🇮🇳🤝🇰🇿
A Defence Industry Seminar has been organised in Astana, Kazakhstan on 15th October 2026, on the theme ‘Re-imagining Indo-Kazakh Defence Industrial Collaboration-Building Bridges for a safe and secure Future’.
Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Shri Y. K. Sailas Thangal, Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan, said that Industries of both the countries may use opportunities provided by this seminar to establish meaningful business-to-business engagement, identify complementary capabilities and explore joint ventures, co-production and joint development projects that create mutual value.
The seminar was attended by 35 representatives from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defence and Kazakhstan Engineering. 17 Indian DPSUs, private Defence companies and FICCI also participated in the seminar along with Shri Amiya Kumar Das, DDG, the representative for Department of Defence Production.
An MOU was also signed between Big Bang Boom Solutions pvt Ltd India and BKM LLP Kazakhstan at the Defence Industry Seminar.

Deepening India–ASEAN Defence Industrial Cooperation 🇮🇳🤝🌏
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh addressed the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - India Defence Think Tank Forum at Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), New Delhi, on 14th October 2026.
During his address, Raksha Mantri highlighted that 2026, designated as the ASEAN - India Year of Maritime Cooperation, presents an opportunity to turn shared interests into practical action.
Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted that initiatives such as Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) and the Technology Development Fund (TDF) have created avenues for collaboration with innovators to address India’s defence needs, including counter-drone systems, cyber defence, maritime surveillance and disaster response.
Being held on 14–15 October 2026, the forum aims to strengthen strategic dialogue, promote joint analysis and identify practical avenues for enhanced defence and security cooperation between India and ASEAN.
