Last night was pure terror. Everything is so irony poisoned that they'd have to add slapstick comedy or "subversive (so commonplace that its. now the norm)" elements to break the tension.
Not to mention the camerawork. Nobody can hold a shot for longer than 2 or 3 seconds now.
Miami Vice was made for TV but it was as blockbuster as entertainment gets. Shootouts, emotion, drama, stakes, and a competent production behind it all.
