Strengthening legislative practices through a common framework for the rules and functioning of Parliament and State Legislatures. Glimpses of the Committee meeting at Taj Hotel.

Addressed the meeting of the Committee to Frame the Uniform Model of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of Legislative Bodies, hosted by the Delhi Legislative Assembly at Taj Hotel. I emphasised that uniformity in legislative procedures must uphold common democratic standards while respecting the constitutional autonomy and distinct requirements of every Legislature. I also highlighted the need for gender-neutral rules, greater digital adoption, effective scrutiny of Bills and procedural clarity to strengthen legislative functioning. Under the guidance of Lok Sabha Speaker Shri @ombirlakota ji, the Committee is working towards a common procedural framework to bring greater consistency to the functioning of State Legislatures and Parliament while respecting their distinct constitutional provisions. The meeting was chaired by @Satishmahanaup ji, Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, with fellow Committee members @rahulnarwekar ji (Maharashtra), Kuldeep Singh Pathania ji (Himachal Pradesh) and Gurupadagouda Sanganagouda Patil ji (Karnataka), all Speakers of their respective State Legislative Assemblies. @LokSabhaSectt @DelhiAssembly
