My wife, a 75-year-old senior citizen, flew Virgin Atlantic flight VS20 from San Francisco to London Heathrow today. The flight departed two hours late, and she and other passengers missed their connection to Delhi (VS302). She is now stranded at Heathrow.
The airline has offered no assistance and no meaningful support. The only alternative on offer is a reroute via Paris, with an extra four hours of waiting on top of nearly four hours already spent at Heathrow. That adds up to a ten-hour delay for an elderly passenger already worn out by a long-haul flight.
She asked for a direct flight and was refused. She asked for an upgrade for comfort and was refused. She asked for a rest stopover and was refused. For an airline that speaks of care for its customers, this is a lack of basic consideration for a senior citizen.
I urge @VirginAtlantic to step in at once and arrange a suitable onward journey for her, and proper care she deserves as a senior citizen
