The Bloor-Danforth subway has average speeds of ~32km/h. The Line 6 Finch West shuttle bus runs the route in 32 minutes according to Google Maps, for an average speed of ~19km/h. And the Finch West LRT takes 53 minutes end-to-end, which is less than 12 km/h ...

or barely 1/3rd the speed of the subway. I really have to ask... what are we doing here? @Metrolinx promised average speeds of 20-21 km/h: metrolinx.com/en/projects-an… and the line is barely doing half of that, and slower than the bus. @TTChelps do you hate your riders? What gives???

Thousands of Ontario residents came together to send a message to @fordnation and @PrabSarkaria that bike lanes save lives, solve congestion and transport goods.

Hey I can play this game too. "Bill 212, the Waste Money to Make Traffic Worse Act" will force cyclists to take the full lane shared with cars. Do you think this plan is extremely stupid, very stupid, just stupid, okay or don't know?"

@PrabSarkaria Please do your homework on bike lanes and congestion. The 2 major causes of congestion in Toronto are too many cars without adequate public transit and rampant construction easements which should be outlawed. Bike lanes reduce congestion and balance road access.

Why would we not count food delivery bikes in the totals? Why does discourse about bike lanes consistently act like these are not real human beings deserving of safe working environments.
Former Toronto Mayor John Tory joined Moore in the Morning to discuss the bike lanes that were installed during his terms and shares where he thinks they work and where they don't.

Bloor/Spadina, Nov. 4, 8:34am. Over three minutes I saw 23 vehicles and 25 cyclists, including one parent with baby. The only congestion was caused by a vehicle. Will @fordnation @PrabSarkaria pass special legislation to take away this person's minivan?

There are no "secondary streets" for Yonge St. Mt. Pleasant and Avenue Rd. are the only other North/South roads. Doug Ford simply wants bike lanes gone, despite the actual data, and study after study, showing the economic, health, environmental, and safety benefits of bike lanes.
Bike lanes belong on secondary streets, not clogging traffic on main roads. It’s time to get you moving again.

It’s also essential that our Municipal leaders hear that there is no compromise, and there's no meter or kilometer of bike lanes that we'll accept being removed. We need Mayor Chow & City Council to use the City of Toronto's full moral and legal weight to resist.

#topoli #onpoli There's a cyclist riding around in Toronto right now who will die because of @fordnation's ridiculous and politically motivated decisions. That person just don't know it yet. Who will it be? Your child? Your parent? Your neighbour? Your friend? Criminal.

Stay in your lane, Ford! You didn’t get elected as Mayor of Toronto, stop trying to take that role. Also, did you notice there are other 443 municipalities of Ontario? It seems you haven’t with the obsession you have with TO.

This video was filmed during Rush hour in Late October (temperature 8C). Most people who watch it would say it seems like there are more cars than bikes. There are actually exactly 15 bikes and 15 cars, despite bikes being allocated half the space.

Ripping up our roads will make people less safe, make traffic worse, and put lives at risk. Full stop. I challenge the Premier to talk to people who have lost loved ones on our roads and hear their stories. It might be hard for the province to do two things at once but, as leaders we have to —tackle congestion AND keep people safe at the same time! As I’ve said before – the congestion in this city is partially the result of the province’s failure to deliver transit projects on time and has led to long construction delays and years of road closures. Stay in your lane, open the Eglinton Crosstown and Finch West LRTs and fix the chaos at Metrolinx.

Inbox: Group rep'ing merchants in the Bloor-Annex corridor tell @fordnation that bike lanes help businesses: “Are we building highways or are we building main streets? Because highways don’t encourage main street economic activity.”

Ontario Premier promises to take bike lanes off Bloor. Inbox, BIA repping 270 businesses there says they: "a firm believer in the actual evidence that concludes that bike lanes on Bloor Street are good for business, improve safety for all road users, and reduce congestion"

NEW: The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) slams the government’s bike lanes proposal as “significant overreach.” “We urge the province to respect local decision-making when considering transportation improvements, and not repeat its mistakes of the past.” #onpoli

As a young person in Ontario it’s such a slap in the face that the government refuses to interfere with cities when it comes to places for people to live, but wants to be completely involved blocking a safe and healthy way for people to get around. A government for the NIMBYs.
