When it comes to analogies across cycles and Bitcoin Treasury companies, June 2025 is analogous to December 2020 and the Bitcoin Grayscale trade.
Hope you know what that means.

If the president of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA can launch and promote a memecoin, then essentially it's OK (and not shamed) for anyone/anywhere to do so.
The grift to come is going to be unreal, even by crypto standards.
Welcome to the final stage of the Cycle.

Unpopular opinion: people in crypto do not understand capital markets basics
Token value is a key ingredient for growth. Tokens are a form of currency that protocols can use to drive growth (e.g. salaries, marketing incentives, etc.), and if the currency has no value, the protocol has no fuel. This is one major reason why equity businesses go public - to have the added firepower of a public currency (most importantly, attracting human talent).
In the long-term, the only way for a token to sustain value is if it has some form of value capture. Value capture doesn't have to happen today. But it needs to be known that there will be value capture at some point. This is an important signal that too many protocols ignore that at their peril.
I agree with @0xMarcB post about the tradeoff of growth vs revenue in a sandbox, but "All else equal" are dangerous words. We live in the real world with pre-existing market structures. And in this real world we live in, market participants assume tokens will never have value accrual.
That needs to change otherwise this market will never mature and attract serious institutional capital. That's why it's an important signal to see protocols have value capture mechanisms, even if small and targeted to start @UniswapFND @MakerDAO @aave @compoundfinance
There are obvious candidates for who should do this next
this is good thinking, but for a protocol like Uniswap you can go even deeper.
- every single trading pair is its own market with its own competition
- Uniswap can be dominating other DEXs on some pairs, and breaking even or losing on others
- Uniswap should consider charging fees only on pairs where they are winning, limited to a fraction of their surplus leader margin.
with this more nuanced view, value capture isn't a binary decision, its realizing Uniswap doesn't provide just one big product but thousands of independent ones, and they can (and should) all be considered individually

>protocols tease airdrop by dangling points
>people use protocol to get airdrop
>protocols user/monetary metrics turbo soar
>close 1b private rounds based on said metrics thanks to users
>give 10% airdrop to said users and claim they're being entitled when they ask for more

If you've underperformed thus far, I think your comeback play in the immediate future is to focus on Ordinals
High-confidence we're going to see a mania stage there soon. think we've only seen the tip of the iceberg for now
most people haven't even bothered with it yet.

Hard lesson from previous cycles: only go where the eyeballs are.
Ignore the rest, the odds are stacked against you.
The strong get stronger as the cycle progresses.

My biggest take away from Denver was the lack of engineers thinking about building consumer products
Smart people focused on the incorrect things, but understandable given Ethereum launched in 2015 is still limited to less than 15 TPS
High-throughput engineers are focused on one abstraction level higher i.e. products
