🗺️ THE MAP — v2 · Oct. 17, 2026
One line was missing from v1. I found it on my own chart tonight — so here is the correction, the same night, with the paper that proves the line.
WHAT CHANGED: Chris Albert and Sgt. Michael J. Lank are connected now. The record connects them twice. The Read defense's own filing (Apr. 16, 2024) calls Lank "one of Chris Albert's best friends from high school" — and puts Lank at a Canton bar with Chris and Kevin Albert on the night of Aug. 31, 2002. That night is in federal paper of its own: the defendants' summary in the Lopilato v. Lank pre-trial memorandum (Doc 24) records Chris, with Julie beside him, coming to off-duty Officer Lank in the Centerfields lot after a fight, his hand swollen.
Nothing on v1 was wrong. That's the problem worth naming: a chart can be accurate about everything it shows and still mislead by what it leaves out. The line was documented in my own archive the whole time. Now it's drawn.
Everything else was re-checked tonight in both directions — every line on the chart traced to its document, and every documented tie in the companion file checked against the chart. One line was missing. This is it.
v1 is superseded. This post takes the pin. A full companion file stands behind this chart — every tie, every source, every gap the record refuses to fill.

🚨 House of Horrors - Philadelphia - The Safe
Police have uncovered a hidden safe during their investigation of the home belonging to Eugene Horsch and his late father Raymond Horsch.
There are conflicting reports if the safe was hidden behind a wall or under the floorboards.
Either way we are waiting to hear what was in the safe.

The Matthew Farwell/Sandra Birchmore texts......he's disgusting, and that's the nicest thing I can say about him.
🚨 DAY 5 — U.S. v. FARWELL: THE DAY OF ONE WITNESS
Day 5 belonged to one person: FBI Special Agent Heidi Kelsch. Called on Friday. Held over the weekend. Held over again today. When testimony ended at 4:03 PM, she still wasn't finished.
Her direct ended this afternoon the way it has run all along — through Sandra Birchmore's own words. The jury heard the January texts: making it work later, a double shift, a follow-up kept for Wednesday. And they heard Sandra herself, in a text read into the record: "I'm sorry for trying to get you to fix mistakes made... I feel like you just used me to get laid. You were my best friend."
Then cross-examination began — and Ms. Daley's first topic was PATERNITY.
On the defense's own questioning, the government's case agent confirmed what the DNA says: Jason Pickard is the father of Sandra's baby. Matthew Farwell is not. The FBI learned it only AFTER they arrested him. At least two people had been told by Sandra herself that Farwell was not the father.
Sit with that. For years, the story ran on belief. Today the biology went on the record — from the government's own witness, opened up by the defense's own cross.
The cross ranged where the defense needs it to go: the 2017 note. The journals. "Have you done any research in the field of maternal mortality?" — "No." Could financial stress be a factor? "Maybe." The jury also heard the balance in Sandra's bank account on January 20, 2021: $2.64. And that the case agent had never investigated a suicide before this one.
TWO RULINGS framed the day. Judge Casper ruled the evidence of Farwell's other affairs comes IN — in a limited form she said she would explain. That explanation has not appeared in any coverage we can see. The parameters are the case inside the case, and in public they are still unwritten.
And the exhibits: no more will be posted online by either side until there is a verdict. The public window that gave us Days 1 through 4 is closed. What is out is out. We have it. All of it.
The fight over Sandra's medical records and exhibits 727/739 was deferred — the judge took the redactions under advisement at adjournment.
NOT CALLED, again: Donyea Holloway — expected, and still waiting. And Meg Kennedy — the friend the defense described to this jury in its opening, the one who would talk about Sandra's past — has now been absent for five full days of testimony. Promised. Never produced.
TOMORROW: Kelsch returns for a third day, to finish her cross. Behind her waits the pool: the doctor who treated Sandra. The expert on grooming. The lawyer Sandra consulted weeks before she died. The dispatcher who took the phone call that started the end of everything. And Darlene Smith — Sandra's aunt — walks into that room carrying a story the internet already thinks it knows.
Watch what the expert is allowed to call things. Watch who the room goes quiet for.
Day 6. The archive is watching. 🥦🔍

THE CHEMIST OF CHEW AVENUE. 🥦🔍
417 West Chew Avenue, Olney, Philadelphia. A twin rowhouse, burned out above the second story, quiet for years. This month the FBI and Philadelphia police began taking it apart — the yard sifted, the basement excavated, the pipes removed and sent away for testing. There is no press conference scheduled. There is no statement. There is just the house, giving up its contents one container at a time.
The man who lived there is beyond their reach. Raymond Charles Horsch died in 2025, at 82, never charged with any homicide. Law-enforcement sources call him a suspected serial killer. That is a characterization, not a charge — and the distance between those two things is the whole story.
He was, on paper, brilliant. A National Merit Scholar who worked for Sesame Street in the early 1970s. Then the record turns: counterfeiting — forged Picasso etchings, fake currency. A methamphetamine conviction. Fugitive years abroad, lived under a stolen identity: Stanley Stokowski, a real Stanford chemist whose name he simply took. When the FBI caught him in Florida in 1984, he did four years and came home.
Then he started publishing. Killer memoirs, self-released: Empathy. Slaves. Transgressions. A film: Deleted Scenes: A Serial Killer's Video Journal. For fifty years he blurred staged violence and real violence into a single commercial brand — deliberately, as the product. Which means the archive investigators seized from Chew Avenue — more than a million digital items, over ten thousand pages of his writing — cannot be read at face value. A senior police official said it plainly in September: some of the material is play acting. Some, they believe, could be real. Every item has to be authenticated on its own. Most never will be.
Seven women are linked to that house in investigators' accounting. Five are named in reporting: Blair Tonzelli, missing since February 2023. Gabrielle Amarando, 2012. Maribel Fresses, 2018. Amy McHale — his ex-wife — last seen at the Chew Avenue house in June 2016. Nikki Fusaro, last seen in Kensington in July 2019; police described a video of her strangulation in September, and said they are "not there yet" on calling it a killing. Investigators believe five of the seven are dead.
No human remains have been found. Not one. The bones the dig turned up this month were tested and determined to be animal — the medical examiner came out to the house more than once, for the same answer. The basement held a chemical setup investigators are testing as a possible dissolution rig. Testing of the materials examined so far has confirmed no blood, and no DNA from any missing woman.
Sit with that. A suspected serial killer's house, excavated on camera for two weeks — and the ground has offered up nothing human. Either there is nothing there to find, or he was exactly as good at chemistry as the stolen name he chose.
The living defendant is his son. Eugene Albert Horsch — the Heir of Olney — sits in federal custody charged with firearms and fake-credential offenses only. A gun case. A badge case. His trial is March 22, 2027, and he is presumed innocent of everything, because on paper there is nothing else. The June traffic stop that started all of this began with a passenger in his car giving police the name of a missing woman.
The dig continues. The archive is maybe a third read. One hundred-plus warrants sit sealed. And the Chemist — scholar, counterfeiter, filmmaker, memoirist — sits at the center of it the way he arranged everything in his life: just outside the frame, uncharged, unanswering, dead a year before they knocked.
Seven women went toward that house. The record of what happened inside it is a million items deep, and the man who made it spent fifty years making sure no one could tell the performance from the truth.
We read the record anyway.
The record, not the rumor. 🥦🔍

On the stand possibly tomorrow James Fitton who was a Stoughton “public safety dispatcher” at the time Julia Perlin made the call to Stoughton PD on Jan.20, 2021 and left that job in 2022 as did the Farwell brothers, Robert Devine, and Joshua Heal after the release of the Stoughton IAD report.
This is where identifying the father was important. To Jason, that becomes his son. And as Devine taught us, revenge is a dish best served cold.
THE OTHER DEVINE IN THE BOOK. 📖
Everyone who follows the Sandra Birchmore case knows the name Robert Devine — the Stoughton deputy chief who ran the Explorers program, whose certification the POST Commission voted to revoke on December 18, 2025.
His wife is in the same book.
The Massachusetts POST Commission publishes its disciplinary records for every agency in the Commonwealth. In the Quincy Police Department section, page 544 of the current edition, sits this entry:
DEVINE, LISA — MPTC ID 9997-9433. Certification status: Certified. Current agency: Quincy Police Department.
Incident date: May 10, 2021. POST # 00006166. Agency IA number: IA2014-00010. Discipline: Written Warning or Letter of Counseling.
Allegation A-00008992: SUSTAINED. Other Misconduct — Policy Violation: failure to respond to an incident according to established procedure.
A 2013 Stoughton Patch report on Robert Devine's promotion to deputy chief identified his wife Lisa as a Quincy police officer — the officer who pinned the badge on him at the ceremony.
Two Devines. One Commission book. His entry ends in revocation. Hers sits in another department's pages, sustained and warned, still certified, still on the job in Quincy.
And one number in her entry doesn't explain itself. The internal affairs file is numbered for 2014. The incident it answers for is dated 2021. Seven years between the number and the event, and the Commission's book offers no bridge between them. Maybe it's a clerical artifact. Maybe the file is older than the incident it closed. Either way, the answer isn't in the summary — it's in Quincy's IA file, and that request is drafted.
The record, not the rumor. The Commission published both entries. We just read the whole book. 🥦🔍

ROBERT DEVINE — THEN / NOW. 🥦🔍
THEN.
Stoughton's deputy chief ran the Police Explorers program for over a decade — the program Sandra Birchmore joined as a teenager.
In August 2022, his own department's internal affairs report sustained three allegations against him: Incompetence. Untruthfulness. Attention and Devotion to Duty. The report's author assessed his answer about what he knew — "that must have been before my time" — and wrote the sentence that follows him: "I do not view Robert Devine to be a credible person."
Devine resigned on August 16, 2022, two days before his scheduled second IA interview. The report recommended that the POST Commission revoke his certification.
NOW.
December 18, 2025, the Commission voted: certification REVOKED, with publication in the National Decertification Index ordered. Case No. 2024-003-P.
THE DELTA.
The Commission revoked him WITHOUT reaching the untruthfulness finding. Holmes's recommendation was honored; his reasoning was expressly not adopted. The outcome belongs to the record. The credibility verdict remains his department's alone.
And in the trial now running in Boston — the trial of the man from his own program's orbit — Robert Devine's name appears on none of the witness lists. Not the government's, not the defense's. Docs 259, 260, 341: absent.
Then: the man who ran the program. Now: decertified, indexed, and nowhere in the room.
The record, not the rumor. 🥦🔍

To shake off some of the more brutal testimony of the day, I will post a daily Bostonian observation from the federal court.
All the old school Boston reporters who have been in this building dozens of times walk to the second floor to take the elevator to the courtroom and get off at the second floor to take the stairs down to leave
I have no explanation as to why we do this, but we always do.
New reporters always take the elevator on the first floor
Outsiders… the same people who wait for the light in the crosswalk, even when there are no cahhhs comin’

‼️USA vs MATTHEW FARWELL‼️
An ALBERT?!?
Well, of course.
You can’t have a major trial in Massachusetts without at least one ALBERT on the witness list!
Plus a nice little chart with pictures on the major players in this case.
I love visuals.

"You only learned Matthew Farwell was not the father of Sandra Birchmore's baby after you arrested him?"
"Yes."
"Did your testimony on direct cover the extent of Ms. Birchmore's mental health history?"
"Objection!"
"Overruled, you can have the question."
"We didn't go through every mental or physical health record."
"Exhibit 701 please, just for the witness!"

James Fitton appears to be the Stoughton Police Dispatcher who told Matthew Farwell, on Jan 21, 2021, that a woman from 1,500 miles away called the Stoughton PD and informed Fitton that Sandra Birchmore was sleeping with Matthew Farwell.
Fitton then told Farwell.
Sandra was dead 11 days later.
Replying to @GrantSmithEllis
"Who do we have tomorrow?"
"Two of our next five our experts."
"Dr. V, Dr. Roccio, Attorney Jessica Katz, Darlene Smith, James Fitton."
"It's unclear who will go tomorrow, depending on the length of the crosses and directs."
"Will the experts be longer than the others?"
"Yes, your honor."

Sandra Birchmore to Farwell: “I’m sorry I am not a nice person.”
She asks what she can do for Farwell:
Farwell tells her to "keep her word" (about not talking about rape)
“I will keep my word and be the best mom," to our kids, Birchmore responds.
Read this exchange the way the jury has to: not as gossip, as a timeline.
Every text in this case is a date, a tone, and a choice about what gets put in writing and what doesn't. This one sits in January 2021 — weeks from the end, in the stretch where he was already being careful on paper.
The texts don't summarize themselves. That's what the record is for.
